The Deni Ute Muster 2027 is expected on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 October 2027, the NSW Labour Day long weekend, at the festival site just outside Deniliquin, about 283 km or 3.5 hours north of Melbourne, but the organisers have not yet announced the 2027 dates. General camping is free with every Muster ticket and all sites are unpowered, and campervans and caravans camp in the Family Camping Area or a paid reserved site, not in the utes-only Ute Paddock. In our live search on 19 October 2026 for 29 September to 4 October 2027, Melbourne campervan hire starts from about $101 a day, with Apollo, Auto-Sleepers, Britz, Camperman, Campervan Village, Jucy, Maui, Mighty, Star RV and Travellers Autobarn all showing vans.
Which rental brands suit the Deni Ute Muster?
Ten brands we compare returned campervans or motorhomes from Melbourne in our live search on 19 October 2026 for Wednesday 29 September to Monday 4 October 2027: Apollo, Auto-Sleepers, Britz, Camperman, Campervan Village, Jucy, Maui, Mighty, Star RV and Travellers Autobarn, with 55 vehicles in total. We found no Muster-specific rules from these brands, so read each brand's terms on unsealed roads and paddock camping before you book. The festival's own rules matter more: all camping is unpowered, there is no drinking water in the camping areas, and once your van is in a camp area it cannot leave and return until the festival is over.
- Budget two to three sleepers: Travellers Autobarn (Modern Budget Touring Wagon, 2 Berth Budgie, Chubby, Hitop, Kuga), Campervan Village (Mini Camper with a rooftop tent, Aventus, Johnny Feelgood, Alice Chillgood), Jucy Chill'd Cloudbreak and Camperman Juliette 2-3 suit couples and mates who will use the free Muster showers and toilets.
- Self-contained with shower and toilet: Mighty Duo, Deuce and Deuce Plus, Apollo Euro Mini, Euro Tourer and Euro Plus, Britz Trailblazer, Auto-Sleepers Kea Nomad 2+1, Maui Ultima and Ultima Plus and Star RV Polaris 2 give you a bathroom on board, handy at night in a big paddock.
- Four to six berths for families and groups: Britz Voyager, Jucy Crib Plus and Condo, Travellers Autobarn Hi5, Camperman Maxie 4, Auto-Sleepers Kea Navigator, Campervan Village Desert Sands and Grip 4x4 Camper, Mighty Double Up and Big Six, Apollo Euro Quest, Euro Camper and Euro Deluxe, Jucy Chill'd Big Kahuna, Maui Beach and River and Star RV Polaris 6.
- Off-grid set-up: with no power at any Muster campsite, ask the brand about house battery capacity, solar and gas before you book. The Muster allows gas bottles only when they are fitted in purpose-built RVs, caravans and campervans that are certified.
Spaceships appears in our Melbourne operator list but returned no vans for these dates, so we do not list it as bookable from Melbourne. Our Sydney search for 28 September to 5 October 2027 did return Spaceships, along with the same ten brands. Start from our Melbourne campervan hire page to change dates or the drop-off city.
How much does campervan hire for the Deni Ute Muster cost?
Prices below are in Australian dollars per day from our live Melbourne search on 19 October 2026, picking up Wednesday 29 September 2027 and returning Monday 4 October 2027. Most vehicles showed Available Now with instant confirmation, while the Travellers Autobarn Modern Budget Touring Wagon and Hi5 and the Campervan Village Grip 4x4 Camper showed on request. The results page also shows a total for the hire, for example $815.85 for the Campervan Village Mini Camper and $1,894.92 for the Mighty Big Six.
- Two sleepers without a toilet: about $103 to $239 a day (Travellers Autobarn Modern Budget Touring Wagon to Britz Hitop).
- Three to five sleepers without a toilet: about $101 to $251 a day (Campervan Village Mini Camper, Jucy Crib Plus, Travellers Autobarn Hitop and Hi5, Campervan Village Desert Sands, Britz Voyager).
- Two to three sleepers with shower and toilet: about $233 to $336 a day (Mighty Duo to Maui Ultima Plus), with the Star RV Polaris 2 at about $532 a day.
- Four sleepers with shower and toilet: about $239 to $392 a day (Camperman Maxie 4, Mighty Double Up, Apollo Euro Quest and Euro Camper, Maui Beach).
- Six sleepers: about $316 to $401 a day (Mighty Big Six, Jucy Chill'd Big Kahuna, Star RV Polaris 6, Apollo Euro Deluxe, Maui River).
From Sydney, our search for 28 September to 5 October 2027 started from about $65 a day (Campervan Village Mini Camper), but the drive is more than twice as long. These rates leave out insurance excess options, one-way fees, extras such as camping kits, and fuel. They also leave out the Muster's own costs. For 2026 the festival listed an adult ticket at a gate price of $353.50, a junior ticket at $178.50 and under 13s at $10, all bought with an adult ticket, and reserved campsites from $78.50 to $103.50. Prices for 2027 are not yet published, so check the official tickets page.
Deni Ute Muster camping in a campervan: areas, sites and rules
You can camp at the Deni Ute Muster in a campervan, motorhome or caravan, and general camping is free with every Muster ticket. You do not need to pre-book general camping and sites are first in, best dressed. All details below come from the official camping FAQs, reserved camping page, terms and conditions and accessibility page, which still describe the 2026 event. The 2027 arrangements have not been published yet.
Where can a campervan camp?
- Family Camping Area (free): the official general camping page lists it as the area where caravans, campers and trailers are allowed. It suits campervans, families and anyone after a quieter night, and noise restrictions apply from midnight.
- Ute Paddock (free): utes only, with no caravans, campers, trailers or trucks. A Non Ute Camping section at the front of the Ute Paddock lets mates camp near ute owners, but it also bans trailers and caravans, so plan on the Family Camping Area in a rental van.
- Reserved Camping (paid): in 2026 the reserved areas Rice Paddy, Sheep Run, Stockyards, Back Paddock, Oat Central, Top Paddock, West Bend, Edward River Flat and Peppin Paddock allowed one vehicle and one caravan or camper trailer per site, for three nights from Thursday to Saturday. Sites cost $88.50 for 6 m by 8 m and $98.50 for 8 m by 8 m, including a $3.50 booking fee. Redgum and Wheat Fields were ute-only sites at $78.50.
- Bluey's Paddock off-site reserved camping: new in 2026, from Monday to Sunday of Muster week for $103.50 per 6 m by 8 m site, with water, a dump point, toilets and showers. There was no vehicle movement after 6pm on the Wednesday, and it sits away from the main festival arena.
Reserved site rules
- You must hold a Muster adult ticket to buy a reserved site, and you can buy both in one transaction. The limit is four sites per order.
- Your campsite pack and windscreen sticker arrive by registered post, and the sticker must be on your windscreen to enter the reserved area. Sites cannot be swapped or refunded.
- All 2026 reserved camping sold out. A 2026 trial sold an Early Entry add-on for $63.50 per reserved site, allowing entry on the Wednesday from 12pm to 6pm.
- The 2027 accessible camping registration form will open when reserved camping goes on sale.
Power, water and facilities
- No power: the festival says all camping sites are unpowered. Generators are allowed in camping areas, but must be filled before arrival, no extra fuel is allowed on site and generator noise counts under the midnight noise rule.
- No drinking water in camp: the terms say there is no potable water in the camping areas, so fill your van's tanks and bring drinking water. Bluey's Paddock listed water and a dump point in 2026.
- Showers and toilets: free in all camping areas.
- Vehicle length: the Muster does not publish a length limit for general camping. Reserved sites are 6 m by 8 m or 8 m by 8 m, so check your van's length against the site. Trucks, prime movers and motorbikes are not allowed in the camp areas.
Campground rules to know
- Camping gates opened at 8am on the Thursday in 2026 and closed at 7pm, then ran from 6am to midnight on Friday and Saturday. Everyone had to leave by 2pm on Sunday.
- Once a vehicle is in a camp area it cannot leave and return until the festival is over, and you cannot drive around the camp areas. NSW road rules apply on site, with a 10 km an hour speed limit.
- To camp with friends, arrive together. Roping off areas is not allowed.
- Each adult camper may bring one slab, carton or box of up to 30 cans of beer or pre-mix, or a 4 litre cask of wine, for the whole festival. No glass anywhere on site.
- Campfires must be in a drum no bigger than half a 44 gallon drum, with wood under 60 cm. BBQs are fine, but gas bottles must be compliant and are not allowed in the Ute Paddock.
- Animals are not allowed, apart from accredited assistance animals. The event is cashless with no ATMs.
Camping in Deniliquin if you are not on site
Visit Deni, the Edward River Council tourism site, lists BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park and McLean Beach Holiday Park on the Edward River, Deniliquin Pioneer Tourist Park four kilometres from town on the Cobb Highway, RV sites at Davidson Street and Civic Place with stays of up to 72 hours, and National Parks camping at Willoughby's Beach, which must be booked. Visit Deni says the festival site is about five minutes from town, with a shuttle bus running through the day and evening. Check availability and prices directly. More on the official camping FAQs and reserved camping page.
How to get from Melbourne to the Deni Ute Muster
Deniliquin is about 283 km from Melbourne, around 3 hours 30 minutes by road, according to Visit Deni. The suggested route is:
- Leave Melbourne on the M31 Hume Highway, then take the B75 north.
- Continue through Heathcote, Rochester and Echuca, cross the Murray River to Moama, and carry on to Deniliquin.
- The festival site is just outside town. In 2026 the ticket box for campers was at Bluey's Paddock via Moonee Swamp Road from Wednesday to Friday morning, then moved to the Main Drive via Conargo Road from Friday at noon.
Expect queues when the camping gates open on Thursday morning. Fill up with fuel, water, food and ice in Deniliquin or on the way, because your van cannot leave the camp area and come back once you are in.
Coming from Sydney
Visit Deni gives about 705 km and roughly 7 hours 45 minutes by road from Sydney, via the M31 Hume Highway and the B75. That is a two day drive in a campervan for most people, so our Sydney search for 28 September to 5 October 2027 allows extra days. Melbourne is the closer pickup.
Where to pick up your campervan
All ten brands in our Melbourne results collect and return in Melbourne. Check each depot's opening hours for your pickup and return days when you book, and allow 3.5 hours or more for the drive back on the Monday. Start from our Melbourne campervan hire page and see the official general FAQs for gate times.
A 6 day Deni Ute Muster campervan trip from Melbourne
This plan matches our search dates, collecting on Wednesday 29 September 2027 and returning on Monday 4 October 2027. It assumes the Muster keeps its usual long weekend timing, so confirm the 2027 dates and gate times before you book.
Day 1 (Wednesday 29 September): Collect your campervan
Pick up in Melbourne, stock up on food, water and drinks, and drive north on the Hume Highway and the B75 through Heathcote and Rochester. Stop for the night around Echuca and Moama on the Murray River, so you can reach the gates early the next morning.
Day 2 (Thursday 30 September): Arrive and set up
Fill your water tanks and fuel tank, then join the queue for the camping gates, which opened at 8am on the Thursday in 2026. Collect your wristband, head to the Family Camping Area or your reserved site, and set up for three nights. In 2026 a separate ticketed tribute show ran on the Thursday night.
Day 3 (Friday 1 October): First Muster day
Two days of program include the day stage, ute competitions, driving events, whip cracking, wood chopping and a night concert on the main stage.
Day 4 (Saturday 2 October): Blue singlets and the big night
In 2026 the Blue Singlet Count was at 1pm on the Saturday at the main stage, so pack your bluey. The second night concert is on Saturday, and the 2026 program included a fireworks display.
Day 5 (Sunday 3 October): Pack up and see Deni
Pack up and leave the site before 2pm, taking all your rubbish. Visit the Ute on the Pole, the Peppin Heritage Centre and a beach on the Edward River, then stay the night at a Deniliquin holiday park or head back towards Echuca.
Day 6 (Monday 4 October): Drive back and return the van
Drive about 3.5 hours back to Melbourne, refuel, empty the toilet cassette at a dump point and return the campervan before the depot's last return time.
Tips for the Deni Ute Muster in a campervan
- Go to the Family Camping Area: the Ute Paddock is for utes only, so rental campervans and motorhomes belong in the free Family Camping Area or a reserved site.
- Arrive self-sufficient: every campsite is unpowered and there is no drinking water in the camping areas, so arrive with full water tanks, charged batteries and a full gas bottle.
- Shop before you enter: once your van is in a camp area it cannot leave and return until the festival ends, so bring enough food, ice and water for the whole stay.
- Arrive together: general camping is first in, best dressed and roping off space is banned, so convoy with friends if you want to camp side by side.
- Watch the 2027 announcements: 2026 reserved camping sold out, so sign up to the official newsletter and buy your ticket and any reserved site when they go on sale.
- Pack for spring on the plains: the festival warns days can be very hot and evenings cool, and rain turns the site to mud. Bring a jacket, earplugs and boots.
