Strawberry Fields 2026 runs from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November 2026 at The Wildlands near Tocumwal, NSW, a bush property on the Murray River that the festival puts about 3 hours' drive north of Melbourne. Every festival ticket includes free camping, and you can camp beside your campervan if you hold a Vehicle / Campervan pass ($108 for Friday entry or $148 for Thursday entry, plus booking fee), but 2026 festival tickets are sold out and now only available through the official Humanitix resale. In our live search for 19 to 24 November 2026, Melbourne campervan hire starts from about $48 a day, with Apollo, Auto-Sleepers, Britz, Camperman, Campervan Village, Jucy, Maui, Mighty, Star RV and Travellers Autobarn all showing vans.
Which rental brands suit Strawberry Fields?
Ten brands we compare returned campervans or motorhomes from Melbourne in our live search for Thursday 19 to Tuesday 24 November 2026: Apollo, Auto-Sleepers, Britz, Camperman, Campervan Village, Jucy, Maui, Mighty, Star RV and Travellers Autobarn. We found no festival-specific rental rules for Strawberry Fields. The festival's own rules matter more: every vehicle needs a vehicle pass, generators are banned, and gas bottles, BBQs and open flames are on the prohibited items list.
- Budget two to four sleepers: Jucy (Chill'd Cloudbreak, Crib Plus, Condo, Coaster), Campervan Village (Mini Camper with a rooftop tent, Aventus, Johnny Feelgood, Alice Chillgood) and Travellers Autobarn (2 Berth Budgie, Chubby, Hitop, Kuga) suit couples and small groups who will use the festival toilets and paid showers.
- Self-contained with shower and toilet: Mighty Duo, Deuce and Deuce Plus, Apollo Euro Mini, Euro Tourer and Euro Plus, Britz Trailblazer, Jucy Chill'd Malibu, Star RV Polaris 2 and Maui Ultima Plus suit travellers who want a bathroom on board.
- Four to six berths for groups: Mighty Double Up and Big Six, Apollo Euro Camper, Euro Quest and Euro Deluxe, Camperman Maxie 4 Shower and Toilet, Jucy Chill'd Big Kahuna, Star RV Polaris 6, Maui Cascade and Sunset, Britz Voyager and the Auto-Sleepers Kea Navigator. A standard vehicle pass covers up to 8 people in one vehicle.
- 4WD and off-grid: Britz Warrior 4WD, Mighty 4WD Camper, Apollo 4WD Adventure Camper and Campervan Village D5 4x4, Grip 4x4 Camper and Desert Sands. You do not need a 4WD for the festival, but the campgrounds are natural bushland with dirt and sandy ground that turns muddy in rain.
Many of the campervans list a gas cooker as a feature. Because the festival bans gas bottles, BBQs and open flames, ask your rental brand and the festival (tickets@strawberry-fields.com.au) how a built-in gas cooker is treated before you book, and plan meals that do not need cooking on site. Spaceships appears in our Melbourne operator list but returned no vans for these dates, so we do not list it as bookable. Our Melbourne search also lets you change the drop-off city if you want a one-way hire along the Murray after the festival.
How much does campervan hire for Strawberry Fields cost?
Prices below are in Australian dollars per day from our live Melbourne search on 19 October 2026, picking up Thursday 19 November 2026 and returning Tuesday 24 November 2026. Most vehicles showed Available Now with instant confirmation, while the Camperman vans, the Campervan Village Grip 4x4 Camper and the Travellers Autobarn Modern Budget Touring Wagon showed on request. The results page also shows a total for the hire, for example $287.56 for the Jucy Chill'd Cloudbreak, $490.72 for the Campervan Village Mini Camper and $997.30 for the Mighty Duo.
- Two sleepers without a toilet: about $48 to $269 a day (Jucy Chill'd Cloudbreak to Britz Maverick).
- Three to five sleepers without a toilet: about $49 to $253 a day (Jucy Crib Plus, Campervan Village Mini Camper, Travellers Autobarn Hitop and Kuga, Jucy Condo, Camperman Juliette and Maxie 3, Britz Voyager, Auto-Sleepers Kea Navigator, Campervan Village Desert Sands, Britz Warrior 4WD).
- Two to three sleepers with shower and toilet: about $153 to $269 a day (Jucy Chill'd Malibu, Mighty Duo and Deuce, Apollo Euro Mini, Star RV Polaris 2, Britz Trailblazer, Maui Ultima Plus).
- Four sleepers with shower and toilet: about $190 to $281 a day (Mighty Double Up, Camperman Maxie 4, Apollo Euro Camper and Euro Quest, Maui Cascade).
- Six sleepers: about $199 to $281 a day (Mighty Big Six, Apollo Euro Deluxe, Jucy Chill'd Big Kahuna, Star RV Polaris 6, Maui Sunset).
These rates leave out insurance excess options, one-way fees, extras such as bedding and camping kits, and fuel. They also leave out the festival's own costs. The 2026 ticket tiers ran from $388 (Extra Early Bird) to $498 (Tier 3) plus booking fee, and all are sold out, so resale through Humanitix is the only way in, where tickets sell for their original price plus a resale fee. On top of each ticket you need one vehicle pass per vehicle: Thursday Entry Vehicle / Campervan $148 or Friday Entry Vehicle / Campervan $108, plus booking fee. Hot showers cost 5 Berries ($5) for 3 minutes, and the site is cashless, using an RFID wristband. Check the official transport page for current pass prices.
Strawberry Fields camping in a campervan: passes, rules and facilities
Yes, you can camp at Strawberry Fields in a campervan, motorhome or caravan. All festival tickets include free general camping from Friday to Monday, and the campgrounds work as camp and park together, so your van sits at your campsite. Everything below comes from the official Strawberry Fields website and its FAQ help centre, checked in October 2026.
Which pass do I need for a campervan?
- A festival ticket for each person: tickets are for the full weekend only, Friday to Sunday, departing Monday. There are no single day tickets and no gate sales, and the event is 18+ with ID checked against each ticket name.
- One vehicle pass per vehicle: the festival says campervans, caravans and trailers are welcome and it is one pass per vehicle, which includes anything it is towing. A standard pass covers vehicles with 8 or fewer people, and larger groups need a Private Mini Bus or Large Private Bus pass.
- Thursday or Friday entry: the Thursday Entry Vehicle / Campervan pass ($148 plus booking fee) lets you in from 2pm Thursday 19 November and is also valid on later days. The Friday Entry pass ($108 plus booking fee) lets you in from 12pm Friday.
- No gate sales: vehicle passes cannot be bought at the gate. If they sell out, the only source is the official Humanitix resale, and the pass must be in the name of the person presenting it.
Power, water and facilities
- No powered sites listed: the official site does not list powered sites, water hookups or a dump point for vehicles, and generators are a prohibited item. Arrive with full water tanks, a charged leisure battery and an empty toilet cassette.
- Toilets and showers: compostable toilets are spread across the site and campgrounds. Showers in the campgrounds cost 5 Berries ($5) for 3 minutes, with tokens sold at the Chill Bills ice locations. The Bush Spa offers showers and plunge pools at extra cost.
- Water and ice: free drinking water stations are marked on the festival map, and bags of ice are sold at the Helper Huts in the campgrounds, at Glamping reception and at the Markets.
- Vehicle length: the festival does not publish a length limit for campervans or motorhomes. If you are bringing a large motorhome or towing, email tickets@strawberry-fields.com.au before you buy.
Campground rules to know
- Generators, BBQs, gas bottles, butane canisters, fires, candles, glass, drones and animals (other than service dogs) are prohibited, and vehicles can be searched at entry.
- Do not park on marked roads inside the festival or your vehicle will be towed, and think about where you park if you plan to leave before Monday morning.
- The speed limit on site is 10 km/h, with on-the-spot fines of up to $100.
- Do not camp under trees, as limbs can fall without warning. The site is natural bushland with dirt, sand and tree roots, and it can turn muddy in rain.
- Swim only at the lifeguard patrolled beach on the Murray River. The lagoon beside the campgrounds is out of bounds.
- All patrons and vehicles must be off site by 12pm Monday. Take all rubbish with you, as Strawberry Fields is a leave no trace festival.
An Accessibility Campsite near the SF Bus Stop, Glamping and the Medical Tent lets you camp with your car or campervan, with accessible toilets and hot showers. Ask through the ticket process or email accessibility@strawberry-fields.com.au. Glamping and pre-pitched tents ($200 to $2,550 plus booking fee) are a separate option, and you cannot park next to those tents.
Murray River caravan parks near Tocumwal
Parking off site is not allowed, so a caravan park only suits the nights before or after the festival. In Tocumwal, Tocumwal Tourist Park (1 to 13 Bruton Street, close to the main street, with powered and ensuite sites) and Boomerang Way Tourist Park (65 Murray Street, about 500 m from the river, with powered and drive-through sites) are both in town. Ingenia Holidays Murray Bend, at 19 Bridge Street, Koonoomoo, just outside Tocumwal, has camping and caravan sites and two kilometres of private river beach, reached by a 3 km dirt track that can be hard going after rain. Check rates and availability with each park. More on the official camping page.
How to get from Melbourne to Strawberry Fields
The festival says the drive from Melbourne to The Wildlands takes about 3 hours. By our route calculation it is roughly 270 km from the Melbourne CBD. The official directions from Melbourne are:
- From central Melbourne take the Tullamarine Freeway towards the airport (CityLink tolls apply), then Exit 14 onto the M80 Metropolitan Ring Road.
- Take the M31 Hume Freeway towards Shepparton for about 90 km, then the A39 Goulburn Valley Highway for about 60 km to Shepparton.
- Continue on the A39 through Shepparton, following signs to Tocumwal, and cross the bridge over the Murray River.
- Turn right at the roundabout into Tocumwal for supplies, then return to the roundabout and take Tuppal Road out of town.
- You must stop at the railway crossing on Tuppal Road for at least 10 seconds. Police enforce this during the festival and fines are significant.
- Continue on Tuppal Road and turn left at the festival signs. The festival also gives the coordinates 35°48'35.1"S 145°26'58.3"E.
Gates open from 2pm to midnight on Thursday (Thursday pass holders only), 12pm to midnight on Friday and 10am to midnight on Saturday and Sunday, with no entry or pass outs outside these times. Gates are closed for entry on Monday. Drop-offs at the gate are not allowed, there is no off-site parking, and vehicles left beside the roads leading to the site will be towed.
Where to pick up your campervan
- Somerton: Apollo, Britz, Maui and Mighty share a branch at 40 Hume Highway, Somerton, in Melbourne's north and right on the way to the Hume Freeway. Our Melbourne page lists it as open daily from 9am to 3:30pm, with collections and returns by 2:30pm.
- Tullamarine: Jucy, Star RV and Travellers Autobarn hand over in Tullamarine, near Melbourne Airport and on the way out of the city. The two Tullamarine depots on our Melbourne page close earlier at weekends, and one is closed on Sunday.
- Other brands: Camperman is at Coburg North (pick-up slots from 9am to 4pm) and Campervan Village is at Ringwood (closed Sunday). Check each depot's hours for your dates when you book.
Because everyone must leave the site by 12pm Monday and the drive back takes about 3 hours, a Monday return before a 2:30pm depot cut-off is too tight for most people. Our search returns the van on Tuesday 24 November. Sydney is about 7 hours' drive away by the festival's estimate, so Melbourne is the closest pickup city we cover. If you would rather not drive, the SF Bus runs from Melbourne for $56 one way plus booking fee, and V/Line passengers can take the free SF Shuttle from Tocumwal with a public transport ticket. Start from our Melbourne campervan hire page and see the official directions page.
A 6 day Strawberry Fields campervan trip from Melbourne
This plan matches our search dates, collecting on Thursday 19 November and returning on Tuesday 24 November 2026, and uses a Thursday Entry Vehicle / Campervan pass. Secure your festival ticket and vehicle pass before you book the van.
Day 1 (Thursday 19 November): Collect and drive to the Murray
Collect your campervan in Melbourne in the morning and head north on the Hume Freeway and Goulburn Valley Highway, about 3 hours. Stock up in Tocumwal, which has an IGA, a bottle shop, a chemist and an ATM, then take Tuppal Road, stopping at the railway crossing. Thursday gates open at 2pm, with light music and food and market stalls open.
Day 2 (Friday 20 November): The festival opens
Friday gates open at 12pm for everyone else. Settle into camp, find the nearest water station and toilets, and cool off at the lifeguard patrolled beach on the Murray River.
Day 3 (Saturday 21 November): Stages and art
Spend the day between stages and spaces such as The Beach, Deep Jungle, The Grove, Riverside, Murray's Lounge and The Ship, plus The Gallery and the Markets. Book a Bush Spa session if you want a longer shower and a plunge pool.
Day 4 (Sunday 22 November): Final day
The festival programme finishes in the early evening on Sunday. Start packing what you can before dark and keep your recycling in the yellow bags provided.
Day 5 (Monday 23 November): Pack up and stay on the river
Everyone must be off site by 12pm. Drive into Tocumwal and book a powered site at a caravan park such as Tocumwal Tourist Park or Boomerang Way Tourist Park, or at Ingenia Holidays Murray Bend just outside town, to recharge, shower and refill before the drive home.
Day 6 (Tuesday 24 November): Return the van
Leave early for the 3 hour drive back to Melbourne, refuel and empty the toilet cassette, then return the campervan before your depot's cut-off, which is 2:30pm at the Somerton depot.
Tips for Strawberry Fields in a campervan
- Secure tickets and a vehicle pass before the van: 2026 festival tickets are sold out and only available through the official Humanitix resale, vehicle passes are not sold at the gate, and names on tickets and passes must match your ID.
- Ask about the gas cooker: gas bottles, BBQs and open flames are prohibited, and many hire campervans come with a gas cooker, so check with the festival and your rental brand, and pack food you can eat without cooking.
- Arrive self-sufficient: there are no powered sites listed and generators are banned, so fill water tanks, charge the leisure battery and power banks, and empty the toilet before you arrive.
- Time your arrival to the gates: gates only open at set times, there are no pass outs outside them, and you must stop for 10 seconds at the Tuppal Road railway crossing.
- Plan for heat and dust: late November on the Murray can be hot and dusty, so bring shade, sunscreen and earplugs, and do not park or camp under trees.
- Return the van on Tuesday: everyone must leave by 12pm Monday, so a Tuesday return avoids racing a Monday afternoon depot cut-off.
