CMC Rocks QLD 2027 runs from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March 2027 at Willowbank Raceway near Ipswich, around an hour's drive south-west of Brisbane, and CMC Rocks camping in a campervan is allowed on site. The festival says hired or delivered campers, motorhomes and RVs must book a powered Class C site ($819) or Class D site ($949) in Denim Campground, on top of a $479 adult Full Festival Ticket, and all campgrounds open at 9am on Wednesday 17 March. In our live search for 16 to 23 March 2027, Brisbane campervan hire starts from about $53 a day, and all 11 brands we compare showed vans.
Which rental brands suit CMC Rocks QLD?
All 11 brands we compare returned campervans or motorhomes from Brisbane in our live search for 16 to 23 March 2027: Apollo, Auto-Sleepers, Britz, Camperman, Campervan Village, Jucy, Maui, Mighty, Spaceships, Star RV and Travellers Autobarn. We found no festival-specific rules from these brands, so the rules that matter come from CMC Rocks: a hired camper must go on a Class C (8 m by 6 m) or Class D (12 m by 6 m) site in Denim Campground, and it has to fit inside the marked site.
- Budget two and three sleepers: Campervan Village (Mini Camper with a rooftop tent, Aventus, Johnny Feelgood, Alice Chillgood), Travellers Autobarn (Modern Budget Touring Wagon, 2 Berth Budgie, Chubby, Hitop, Kuga), Spaceships (Alpha, Beta), Jucy Chill'd Cloudbreak and Camperman (Juliette, Maxie 3) suit couples and mates who will use the campground showers and toilets.
- Self-contained with shower and toilet: Mighty Duo, Deuce and Deuce Plus, Apollo Euro Mini, Euro Tourer and Euro Plus, Britz Trailblazer, Star RV Polaris 2, Auto-Sleepers Kea Nomad 2+1 and Maui Ultima Plus suit travellers who want a bathroom on board and fewer queues.
- Four to six berths for groups: Jucy Crib Plus, Condo and Chill'd Big Kahuna, Spaceships Beta 4 Berth, Camperman Maxie 4, Britz Voyager and Warrior 4WD, Mighty Double Up and Big Six, Apollo Euro Quest, Euro Camper and Euro Deluxe, Maui Sunset, Star RV Polaris 6 and Campervan Village Desert Sands. A Class C site takes up to six people and a Class D site up to eight.
- Measure before you buy a site: CMC Rocks enforces site sizes and asks you to measure your camper van or motorhome first. Check the vehicle length with the brand, then choose Class C (8 m long) or Class D (12 m long) to fit the van plus any awning or second vehicle.
Our results do not say which vans include a 240V inlet or a 25 metre power lead, so ask the brand before you rely on the site's power. Our Brisbane search also lets you change the drop-off city if you want to keep travelling after the festival.
How much does campervan hire for CMC Rocks cost?
Prices below are in Australian dollars per day from our live Brisbane search on 19 October 2026, picking up Tuesday 16 March 2027 and returning Tuesday 23 March 2027. We found 60 vehicles, almost all marked Available Now with instant confirmation; the Travellers Autobarn Modern Budget Touring Wagon and Hi5 and the Campervan Village Grip 4x4 Camper showed on request. The results page also shows a total for the hire, for example $622.95 for the Campervan Village Mini Camper and $1,738.47 for the Camperman Maxie 4 Shower and Toilet.
- Two sleepers without a shower or toilet: about $59 to $232 a day (Campervan Village Aventus to Britz Maverick), with Spaceships Alpha at $82 and Jucy Chill'd Cloudbreak at $95.
- Three to five sleepers without a shower or toilet: about $53 to $237 a day (Campervan Village Mini Camper to Britz Warrior 4WD), including Jucy Crib Plus at $104, Spaceships Beta 4 Berth at $147 and Campervan Village Desert Sands at $208.
- Vans with a portable toilet: about $158 to $166 a day (Jucy Chill'd Malibu and Chill'd Sunseeker).
- Two and three sleepers with shower and toilet: about $207 to $302 a day (Mighty Duo to Maui Ultima Plus).
- Four sleepers with shower and toilet: about $195 to $267 a day (Camperman Maxie 4, Mighty Double Up, Apollo Euro Quest and Euro Camper).
- Six sleepers: about $240 to $337 a day (Mighty Big Six, Apollo Euro Deluxe, Maui Sunset, Jucy Chill'd Big Kahuna, Star RV Polaris 6).
These rates leave out insurance excess options, one-way fees, extras such as camping kits and power leads, and fuel. They also leave out the festival's own costs, which CMC Rocks publishes in Australian dollars: a Full Festival Ticket is $479 for adults and youth and $239 for juniors aged 4 to 14, and a camp site for the whole group is $819 (Class C, powered) or $949 (Class D, powered) in Denim Campground. Each order carries a $6.95 handling fee. Prices can change, so check the official 2027 tickets page.
CMC Rocks camping in a campervan: sites, power and rules
CMC Rocks runs six official campgrounds in and around the Willowbank motorsport precinct: Ace, Buck, Cowboy, Denim, Eagle and Fox. Camping is only for Full Festival Ticket holders, and the campgrounds sell out each year, according to the festival. All details below come from the official camping, tickets, transport and FAQ pages, checked in October 2026 (the camping page says it was last updated on 15 September 2026).
Which site do I need for a hired campervan?
- Denim Campground only: CMC Rocks says anyone hiring or having a camper, caravan, motorhome or RV delivered must buy a Class C or Class D site in Denim Campground, and pre-delivered setups are not accepted in any other campground. Denim sits inside Willowbank Raceway, with a walk or tractor shuttle to the festival.
- Class C, $819 per site: 8 m by 6 m, up to 6 people, up to 2 vehicles, powered.
- Class D, $949 per site: 12 m by 6 m, up to 8 people, up to 2 vehicles, powered. Choose this for longer motorhomes or a van plus a second car.
- Tickets: buy one Camp Site Ticket per group through AXS, which includes Campground Entry Tickets for the maximum number of people on that site class. Every person also needs a Full Festival Ticket ($479 adult). A Single Day Ticket does not allow camping.
- Extra vehicles: a third vehicle needs a $100 Overflow Car Park ticket for your campground, and overflow tickets can sell out.
Power, water and waste
- Power: each powered site gets one 10 amp or 15 amp outlet, with a maximum of 15 amps. The outlet is usually within 25 metres, so bring a 25 metre extension lead that is tested and tagged to AS3760, with any joins in a weatherproof box.
- Water: free drinking water stations are spread through the campgrounds, but there is no tap or hose to individual sites, so fill your tanks before you arrive.
- Waste: you can empty sewage at the toilet amenities in each campground by carrying it there yourself; never dump grey or black water on the ground. Off-site dump points are at the Ipswich Showground and the Laidley Dump Point on John Street.
- Facilities: shared toilets, showers and hand basins are in every campground, with food and coffee vendors in each campground and a General Store in the Tailgate precinct from Wednesday 17 to Sunday 21 March. Ice costs $8 a bag.
Campground rules to know
- Campgrounds open at 9am on Wednesday 17 March 2027. There is no camping or parking on Paynes Road before the gates open, as it is a clearway.
- Once your vehicle is parked at your site it cannot move until the departure windows: 9pm to 10pm on Sunday 21 March via Paynes Road, or 6am to midday on Monday 22 March. The festival encourages campers to leave after 9am on Monday.
- Sites are allocated first come, first served by Camping Rangers. To camp beside friends, buy the same site type in the same campground and arrive together.
- No BYO alcohol in the campgrounds or festival, no fires or open flames, and no animals except assistance animals. Generators are allowed but must be off from midnight to 7am, and gas cookers must follow the festival's safety rules.
- Snakes and fire ants may be in the area. For help, find your campground's Ranger Hut or text the Patron Text Line on 0482 082 812.
Other campgrounds and nearby parks
Ace Campground, closest to the festival gates, also sells Class C RV and Caravans Only powered sites ($819) where tents and swags are not allowed, but the festival directs hired and delivered campers to Denim, and Cowboy Campground at Queensland Raceway has Class D hardstand sites ($949) reached by shuttle bus. If you cannot get a site, Visit Ipswich lists Willowbank Caravan Park (about 150 sites), the Ipswich Showgrounds (powered sites for caravans, campervans and camper trailers) and Rosewood Showgrounds (16 powered sites), about 20 minutes west of Ipswich. Festival day parking does not allow campervans or sleeping in vehicles, so plan to bus in from Ipswich if you stay off site. More on the official camping page.
How to get from Brisbane to CMC Rocks QLD
Willowbank Raceway is at 38 Champions Way, Willowbank, about 50 km south-west of central Brisbane. CMC Rocks describes it as around an hour's drive from Brisbane and from the Gold Coast, and about 15 minutes from Ipswich city centre. The usual route is the Ipswich Motorway west from Brisbane, then the Cunningham Highway past Ipswich to Willowbank.
- Use the campground entry: the festival says all campground vehicles must enter via Goebels Road. Avoid shortcuts such as Higgs Road and Wilkes Road, which do not connect to Paynes Road, and Mt Hines Road, which has a creek vehicles cannot cross.
- Arrive after the gates open: campgrounds open at 9am on Wednesday 17 March 2027, and you cannot queue or park on Paynes Road before then.
- One stop at the gate: each campground's vehicle entry gate handles the vehicle check, ticket scan and wristbands. Have your Camp Site Ticket and every person's Full Festival Ticket and Campground Entry Ticket ready in the AXS app.
- Expect Monday traffic: departures from 6am to 9am on Monday 22 March are staggered by traffic marshals, so allow extra time before your depot return.
Where to pick up your campervan
- Britz and Mighty: 733 Nudgee Road, Northgate, on Brisbane's north side. Mighty lists 8am to 3:30pm and Britz 9am to 3:30pm, every day, and both ask you to collect or return at least an hour before closing.
- Jucy: 769 Kingsford Smith Drive, Eagle Farm, open 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 2pm on weekends.
- Other brands: check Apollo, Maui, Camperman, Campervan Village, Spaceships, Star RV, Travellers Autobarn and Auto-Sleepers depot hours when you book.
Because campgrounds open at 9am on Wednesday and depots open around 8am or 9am, we suggest collecting on Tuesday 16 March and staying near Ipswich that night. Collecting on Wednesday morning also works if you do not mind arriving later in the day. If you would rather not drive, CMC Rocks runs pre-booked festival buses from Brisbane Coach Terminal ($216 weekend return) and from Ipswich Station ($78 weekend return). Start from our Brisbane campervan hire page, compare our Gold Coast page as an alternative pickup, and see the official transport page.
An 8 day CMC Rocks campervan trip from Brisbane
This plan matches our search dates, collecting on Tuesday 16 March and returning on Tuesday 23 March 2027. Buy your Full Festival Tickets and a Denim Class C or Class D site through AXS before you book the van.
Day 1 (Tuesday 16 March): Collect your campervan
Pick up in Brisbane, then stock up on food, water and ice. Leave the alcohol behind, as BYO is not allowed in the campgrounds. Book a night near the venue, such as Willowbank Caravan Park or the Ipswich Showgrounds, and fill your water tanks.
Day 2 (Wednesday 17 March): Gates open
Campgrounds open at 9am. Enter via Goebels Road, collect your wristbands at the Denim gate and set up on your site. The Tailgate precinct opens at 4:30pm, and campground bars run on Wednesday and Thursday in selected campgrounds.
Day 3 (Thursday 18 March): Settle in
Your van stays parked from now on, so use the free shopping shuttle to Yamanto and Riverlink, which runs on Thursday and Saturday only. The Tailgate precinct opens at 12:30pm, with Nifty's Sports Bar and Big Time Charlie's.
Days 4 to 6 (Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March): The festival
The main festival site opens at 9:30am on Friday. Walk in from Denim or take the campground tractor shuttle, and keep your power use low so you do not trip the site outlet.
Day 7 (Monday 22 March): Pack up and explore Ipswich
Vehicles can leave from 6am to midday, and the festival suggests waiting until after 9am. Empty your tanks at the Ipswich Showground or Laidley dump point, then spend the afternoon in Ipswich at Queens Park or Stony Creek Brewing, and stay at a holiday park nearby or in Brisbane.
Day 8 (Tuesday 23 March): Return the van
Refuel and return the campervan in Brisbane before the depot's last return time, which is usually an hour before closing.
Tips for CMC Rocks in a campervan
- Book the site before the van: campgrounds sell out each year and hired campers can only use Class C or Class D sites in Denim Campground. If general sales have ended, try the AXS Official Resale.
- Measure the van: site sizes are strictly enforced, so check the length with the rental brand and choose Class D (12 m by 6 m) if the van is long or you are bringing a second car.
- Bring a 25 metre lead: each site has one 10 or 15 amp outlet, usually within 25 metres, and your lead must be tested and tagged. Ask the brand whether one is included.
- Arrive with full tanks and supplies: there is no water hookup at sites and your van cannot move once parked, so shop and fill up before Wednesday.
- Leave alcohol and pets at home: BYO alcohol is confiscated and can lead to eviction without refund, and animals other than assistance animals are not allowed.
- Plan your exit: leave in the Sunday 9pm to 10pm window or on Monday from 6am to midday, then return the van on Tuesday to avoid rushing the depot cut-off.
