Race week sites go early

The 69th Daytona 500 is on Sunday 21 February 2027 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, closing Speedweeks (13 to 21 February). The speedway says all Speedweeks camping is reserved for 2027 and runs a waitlist, so without a speedway site you will need a nearby park such as Endless Summer in Port Orange (race week sites from US$150 a night, five-night minimum). In our live search on 19 October 2026 for 16 to 23 February 2027, Orlando pick-ups started from US$51.72 a night for a Cruise America 25 ft motorhome. Orlando is the nearest CRG pick-up, about 56 to 72 miles (89 to 116 km) from the track depending on the depot.

Which rental brands suit the Daytona 500?

One brand returned vans in our live search from Orlando for 16 to 23 February 2027: Cruise America. Miami returned Cruise America only too. We found no Daytona-specific rule from the brand, so tell Cruise America you plan to camp at a race and confirm anything you rely on in writing.

  • Cruise America (motorhomes): Class C motorhomes with a toilet, shower and fridge, shown as the Compact 21 ft (sleeps 4), Standard 25 ft (sleeps 5) and Large 30 ft (sleeps 7). The speedway only allows self-contained RVs in its RV camping areas, and all three fit inside the standard 20 by 40 ft infield site.
  • Depot hours: Cruise America says pick-ups are normally 1pm to 4pm and returns 9am to 11am, and its centres are closed on Sundays and holidays. Race day is a Sunday, so plan a weekday pick-up and return.
  • Running costs: Cruise America charges mileage (39 cents a mile, or 19 cents under its Half Price Mileage Deal for departures through 31 October 2027, not one-ways) and US$3.50 an hour for the generator.
  • Campervans: no campervan brand returned vans in Orlando or Miami for these dates. Note that the Orange tent campground at the speedway does not allow motorhomes.

Compare depots and live prices on our Orlando RV hire page, or try Miami RV hire if you are flying into South Florida.

What does Daytona 500 RV hire cost?

Rates in US$ from our live search on 19 October 2026 for an Orlando hire picking up Tuesday 16 February and returning Tuesday 23 February 2027 (7 nights), which covers qualifying, the Duel and race day.

  • Cruise America Standard 25 ft (sleeps 5): US$51.72 a night, US$426.50 total.
  • Cruise America Large 30 ft (sleeps 7): US$51.72 a night, US$426.50 total.
  • Cruise America Compact 21 ft (sleeps 4): US$58.20 a night, US$471.88 total.
  • Miami, 15 to 23 February 2027 (8 nights): Compact US$77.12 a night (US$681.12 total), Standard US$135.06 (US$1,144.62 total) and Large US$162.45 (US$1,363.75 total), so Orlando is far cheaper as well as closer.

These rates leave out several costs:

  • Mileage: Orlando to the speedway and back is about 110 to 145 miles (180 to 235 km) before any side trips. Cruise America charges per mile and collects an estimate up front.
  • Camping: speedway camping for 2026 Speedweeks ranged from US$799.71 (West) to US$3,601.92 (The Shores at Lake Lloyd) for the week, and race week RV parks nearby charge about US$150 to US$274 a night with five-night minimums. See the camping section.
  • Race tickets: every Daytona 500 guest needs a reserved seat. The 2027 brochure lists Duel, Truck and ARCA tickets from US$57 for adults, with kids 12 and under free in general admission on those days.
  • Generator time, bedding and kitchen kits, insurance excess cover and one-way fees, so compare live totals for your own dates.

Can you camp in an RV at the Daytona 500?

Yes, Daytona International Speedway has its own RV camping in the infield and next to the track, but its Speedweeks camping page says all camping inventory for Speedweeks has been reserved. Every campground page shows the 2027 Daytona 500 as sold out with a waitlist, and the speedway says openings can come up as plans change.

Prices below are the 2026 Speedweeks single weekend prices from the official comparison chart (subject to change). 2027 prices are not published.

  • Orange Campgrounds: tents, cars, trucks and pop-ups inside Turns 3 and 4, with a height limit of 8 ft and no motorhomes. US$852.24 to US$1,227.44.

Most infield packages included two infield camping admissions. In 2026 check-in opened 10am Friday 6 February for extended stays (12pm Monday 9 February for general) and check-out was 12pm on the Monday after the race. Rules include self-contained RVs only in RV areas, no sleeping tents in RV areas, quiet time midnight to 6am, and if you leave with your RV you cannot re-enter. A pump-out truck visits each area from 9am to 6pm for US$50 cash, and potable water is near the restrooms. Call 1-800-PITSHOP with questions.

Daytona 500 RV tips

  • Book the park before the RV. Speedway camping is sold out for 2027 and nearby parks set five-night race week minimums, so lock in a site first.
  • Join the speedway waitlist anyway. The speedway says openings can come up as plans change, and waitlist members hear first.
  • Read the refund rules. Several parks give no refunds within 30 days or a month of race week, so check before you pay.
  • Avoid Sunday pick-ups and returns. Cruise America centres close on Sundays, which is race day.
  • Check the power. Some park sites are 20 or 30 amp only, and the speedway charges US$50 cash for a pump-out, so arrive with empty tanks.
  • Pack for cool nights. February evenings in Daytona Beach can be cool, so bring warm layers and check the forecast closer to the date.
