Parks say festival spots sell out quickly

Coachella 2027 runs over two weekends, 9 to 11 April and 16 to 18 April, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and the festival says there is no parking or camping for RVs or motorhomes. In our live search for 6 to 13 April 2027, Los Angeles pick-ups started from US$58.91 a night for a Cruise America motorhome and US$60.51 a day for a Travellers Autobarn campervan. Pick up in Los Angeles (about 134 miles or 216 km from the venue), stay at an RV park in the Coachella Valley, and use a shuttle or ride to the gates. Stagecoach, the following weekend, does sell RV sites on site.

Which rental brands suit Coachella?

Two brands returned vans in our live search from Los Angeles for 6 to 13 April 2027: Travellers Autobarn and Cruise America. Neither brand publishes a Coachella-specific rule that we could find, so confirm festival use in writing before you book.

  • Cruise America (motorhomes): Class C motorhomes with a toilet, shower and fridge, shown as the Compact 21 ft (sleeps 4), Standard 25 ft (sleeps 5) and Large 30 ft (sleeps 7). These are the right vehicles for an RV park stay near Coachella, but they cannot camp at Coachella itself and are not allowed in its car camping, because that area bans any vehicle with a toilet.
  • Travellers Autobarn (campervans and minivans): Minivan, Hitop, Kuga, Chubby, Beeva and Hi5 campervans sleeping 2 to 4. Coachella car camping allows passenger cars, trucks or vans, but bans vehicles with running water or a toilet. Autobarn lists a sink on every model except the Minivan, so the Minivan is the only one that clearly looks eligible. Coachella does not name rental campervans, so ask the festival before you rely on it.
  • Cruise America in Indio: Cruise America's website also lists a rental center in Indio at 84420 Cabazon Rd (Venlo RV, phone (760) 342-0978). It did not appear in our live search, so ring it for festival-week availability.

What does Coachella RV and campervan hire cost?

Rates in US$ from our live Los Angeles search for a hire picking up Tuesday 6 April and returning Tuesday 13 April 2027 (7 nights, 8 rental days). We searched weekend 1 only, so check your own dates for weekend 2. Rates are the discounted prices shown at the time of the search.

  • Cruise America motorhomes: 25 ft Standard US$58.91 a night (US$478.63 total), 30 ft Large US$64.63 (US$518.67 total) and 21 ft Compact US$71.36 (US$565.73 total).
  • Travellers Autobarn Minivan: US$60.51 a day (US$484.10 total), sleeps 4.
  • Travellers Autobarn campervans: Hitop US$82.79, Kuga US$91.41, Chubby US$102.87, Beeva US$138.28 and Hi5 US$155.02 a day (US$662.29 to US$1,240.12 total).
  • Other pick-ups, same dates: Las Vegas had Cruise America motorhomes from US$52.18 a night and Autobarn from US$62.97 a day; San Diego had Cruise America only, from US$64.86 to US$84.26 a night.

These rates leave out several costs:

  • Festival passes: General Admission was US$599 (weekend 1, Tier 1) on Coachella's 2027 pass page, and was on a waitlist when we checked.
  • Camping or RV park: car camping is US$40 a night plus tax (US$160 for four nights) and a Shadow Hills RV site was US$199 a night for Coachella (year not confirmed). See the camping section.
  • Shuttle: Coachella's Shuttle Pass was US$150 on its 2027 pass page.
  • Mileage, insurance excess, one-way fees and extras vary by brand, so compare live totals for your dates.

Can you camp in an RV at Coachella?

No. Coachella's FAQ says there is no parking or camping for RVs or motorhomes, and its parking page says no RV, trailer or golf cart parking. The camping page lists passenger cars, trucks and vans only, and bans RVs, motorhomes, trailers, buses, motorcycles and U-Haul trucks.

What the on-site camping allows

  • Car camping: US$40 a night plus tax, US$160 for four nights (Thursday to Monday) on the 2027 pass page, sold per weekend. Sites are 30 ft by 10 ft, one vehicle per site, and the vehicle cannot move once parked.
  • Vehicle rules: no toilet in the vehicle, no running water and an empty tank, and no cooking inside the vehicle. A campervan with a sink or water system looks excluded, so ask the festival about your exact van.
  • Other options: Preferred Car Camping (US$105 to US$130 a night), Powered Car Camping (US$155 a night, one standard outlet), Ready-Set Tent, La Campana and Lake Eldorado.
  • Dates and rules: camping opens Thursday 9am and closes Monday 9am, with none between the two weekends. These details come from the festival's 2026 camping page, which still showed 2026 wording in October 2026.

Best RV parks near Coachella

  • Coachella Lakes RV Resort, 44790 Dillon Road, Coachella: 351 full-hookup sites, pull-thrus to 45 ft, 30 and 50 amp power, less than 7 miles (11 km) from the Empire Polo Club. Rates are on its booking page.
  • Shadow Hills RV Resort, 40655 Jefferson St, Indio: about 7 miles (11 km) away, with water, sewer and 30 and 50 amp power. Its festival page lists a free shuttle for guests (two buses daily from noon) and RV sites at US$199 a night for Coachella and US$239 for Stagecoach, with the year not confirmed. A festival parking pass is US$124 a weekend.
  • Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park, La Quinta: Riverside County runs festival camping about 20 minutes from the polo club, with RV sites at US$75 a night with water and electric and US$50 dry (April 2025 prices). Book at RivCoParks.org or call (760) 564-4712.
  • Outdoor Resort Indio, 80394 Avenue 48: 419 sites, Class A only, listed at US$141 to US$175 a night with a 5-night minimum.

We could not verify official pages for RV parks in Thermal or Palm Desert, so ask any park about festival minimum stays, rates and rig limits. Cruise America also lists a rental center in Indio, which can save the long drive.

Stagecoach does have RV camping

Stagecoach (23 to 25 April 2027, the weekend after Coachella) sells powered RV sites at the same polo club. Sites are 20 ft by 50 ft, serve 30 and 50 amp, and cost US$412.25 to US$462.25 a night (US$1,649 to US$1,849 for four nights, plus tax). The RV needs an installed toilet, a water tank and a bed, with a limit of eight attendees per site. Only factory-installed generators are allowed. Festival admission is sold separately, and the sale page showed some lots on a waitlist in October 2026.

How do you get to Coachella from Los Angeles?

The Empire Polo Club is at 81-800 Avenue 51, Indio, about 134 miles (216 km) from the Cruise America depot in Carson and 143 miles (230 km) from the Travellers Autobarn depot in Inglewood. Mapping estimates for a car are about 2 hours 40 minutes and 2 hours 50 minutes, so allow longer in an RV and much longer on festival Thursday and Friday.

  • Route: take I-10 east to Indio. Coachella's parking page gives the Jefferson St exit for camping and companion lots and Monroe St for Preferred Parking, and says to follow traffic staff because routes change.
  • Other pick-ups: San Diego is about 131 miles (210 km), roughly 2 hours 55 minutes, and Las Vegas about 267 to 280 miles (430 to 450 km), roughly 5 hours 10 minutes to 5 hours 25 minutes.
  • Parking at the venue: there is no RV parking. Day parking is not guaranteed and cars are towed after 2am. Preferred Parking (US$299, vehicles up to 8.5 ft by 16 ft) and the Coachella Shuttle Pass (US$150) are on the 2027 pass page.
  • Rides: the rideshare zone runs Friday to Sunday 11am to 3am at Avenue 49 and Monroe St, and Coachella calls shuttles the best choice.

8 day Coachella RV trip from Los Angeles

Dates assume weekend 1 (Friday 9 to Sunday 11 April 2027) with an 8 day hire from Tuesday 6 to Tuesday 13 April. Drive times are mapping estimates for a car.

Day 1: Tuesday 6 April, Los Angeles to the desert

Collect your RV at the Los Angeles depot and stock up on food and water. Drive I-10 east and settle in at a Coachella Valley RV park, about 2 hours 40 minutes from the Carson depot with no stops.

Day 2: Wednesday 7 April, Joshua Tree

Spend the day in Joshua Tree National Park and check its entry fee and rules on the NPS site. Return to the park by evening.

Day 3: Thursday 8 April, set up

Check into your park and confirm the shuttle or rideshare plan for Friday. If you have booked car camping with a van the festival has approved, check-in opens Thursday 9am.

Days 4 to 6: Friday 9 to Sunday 11 April, Coachella

Take the shuttle or a ride to the polo club each day and leave the RV at your park, because RVs cannot stay on site. Rideshare waits are longest between 12am and 2:30am, so leave early or use the shuttle.

Day 7: Monday 12 April, recovery

Rest, empty tanks and wash the dust off. Take a slow drive around Palm Springs and the valley.

Day 8: Tuesday 13 April, return

Drive back to Los Angeles and return the RV to the depot within its return hours. Fill the tank and clean the interior to avoid extra fees.

To do both Coachella and Stagecoach, extend the hire to Tuesday 27 April, park off site for Coachella weekend 2, then camp on site at Stagecoach if the brand allows festival use.

Coachella RV tips

  • Do not plan to sleep in the RV at the venue. Coachella has no RV camping or parking, so book your RV park before the RV.
  • Check van rules before using car camping. No toilet and no running water are allowed, so a campervan with a sink may be refused. Ask the festival in writing.
  • Ask the rental brand about festival use. Get the festival dates, parking plan and any fees confirmed in writing before you pay.
  • Book early. Shadow Hills warns spaces fill quickly, and Coachella passes were on a waitlist in October 2026.
  • Use the shuttle. Coachella calls shuttles the best way in, and Shadow Hills offers a free shuttle to guests.
  • Pack for dust and sun. Check the forecast closer to the date and carry water and sun protection.
