RV must have a toilet and water tank
Stagecoach 2027, California's country music festival, runs Friday 23 to Sunday 25 April at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, and unlike Coachella it sells powered RV sites on site in The Resort from US$412.25 a night (US$1,649 for the weekend, plus tax). In our live search on 19 October 2026 for 20 to 27 April 2027, Los Angeles pick-ups started from US$72.21 a night for a Cruise America motorhome with a toilet and shower, the type that meets the RV site rules. The RV must have an installed toilet, a water tank and a bed, so a motorhome with a bathroom qualifies but a campervan without a toilet does not. Pick up in Los Angeles, about 134 miles (216 km) from the venue, or stay at a nearby RV park if the festival lots sell out.
Which rental brands suit Stagecoach?
Two brands returned vans in our live search from Los Angeles for 20 to 27 April 2027: Cruise America and Travellers Autobarn. Only one of them rents the kind of vehicle Stagecoach accepts in its RV sites, which must have an installed toilet, a water holding tank and a place to sleep.
- Cruise America (motorhomes, the best fit): Class C motorhomes with a toilet, shower and fridge, shown as the Compact 21 ft (sleeps 4), Standard 25 ft (sleeps 5) and Large 30 ft (sleeps 7). Cruise America says all three have a generator in the USA, charged at US$3.50 an hour, which matters because Stagecoach allows factory-installed generators only. Its FAQ also says that for music festivals a cancellation within 45 days of pick-up loses the down payment, and that deposits can be higher for events.
- Travellers Autobarn (campervans): Minivan, Chubby, Kuga, Beeva, Hitop and Hi5 campervans sleeping 2 to 4. None lists a toilet, so they do not meet the Stagecoach RV site rules. Car Camping bans vehicles with running water or a toilet, and Autobarn lists a sink on every model except the Minivan, so the Minivan is the only one that looks eligible there. Autobarn's own Stagecoach page promotes festival trips, but ask the festival about your exact van before you rely on it.
- Cruise America in Indio: Cruise America also lists a rental center in Indio at 84420 Cabazon Rd (Venlo RV). It did not appear in our live search, so ring it for festival-week availability.
Tell the rental company the RV is going to Stagecoach, and ask how long its power cord is, since the festival says you need 50 to 75 ft. Prefer a different pick-up? Compare Las Vegas RV hire or San Diego RV hire, or start with Los Angeles RV hire.
What does Stagecoach RV hire cost?
Rates in US$ from our live Los Angeles search on 19 October 2026 for a hire picking up Tuesday 20 April and returning Tuesday 27 April 2027 (7 nights, 8 rental days).
- Cruise America motorhomes (meet the RV site rules): Standard 25 ft US$72.21 a night (US$571.71 total), Compact 21 ft US$73.21 (US$578.73 total) and Large 30 ft US$73.21 (US$578.73 total).
- Travellers Autobarn Minivan: US$58.58 a day (US$468.65 total), sleeps 4, no toilet.
- Travellers Autobarn campervans: Chubby US$86.91, Kuga US$91.67, Beeva US$95.40, Hitop US$103.90 and Hi5 US$114.33 a day (US$695.25 to US$914.64 total), no toilet.
- Other pick-ups, same dates: Las Vegas had Cruise America motorhomes from US$63.30 to US$78.27 a night and Autobarn from US$49.16 to US$100.71 a day. San Diego had Cruise America only, from US$75.84 to US$88.07 a night.
These rates leave out several costs:
- RV site: US$1,649 to US$1,849 for the weekend plus TOT, for up to eight people. See the camping section.
- Festival passes: General Admission was US$549 (Tier 1) and US$599 (Tier 2) on the 2027 pass page, and every camper needs one.
- Running costs: Cruise America charges US$3.50 an hour for the generator and up to US$100 if the holding tank is not emptied on return. Festival water fills and pump-outs are extra.
- Mileage, insurance excess, one-way fees and extras vary by brand, so compare live totals for your dates.
Can you camp in an RV at Stagecoach?
Yes. Stagecoach sells RV sites in The Resort, its on-site camping area next to the festival, and the official Resort and Camping page sets the rules. Festival passes are sold separately, and every camper needs both a festival wristband and a Resort wristband.
Stagecoach RV sites and 2027 prices
- Site size and power: every RV site is 20 ft by 50 ft and powered for both 30 amp and 50 amp RVs. Each site comes with eight Resort wristbands, and up to eight festival-goers can stay (kids 10 and under are not counted).
- Lot 8 Reserved and Lot 5 Reserved: US$462.25 a night, US$1,849 for the weekend plus TOT (local hotel tax). You choose your spot when you buy, can buy up to five sites per order and can arrive any time during check-in hours. The festival describes Lot 8 as footsteps from the festival.
- Lot 10 Reserved: US$412.25 a night, US$1,649 plus TOT, reserved spot, up to five per order. It showed a waitlist when we checked on 19 October 2026.
- Lots 4B and 7: US$412.25 a night, US$1,649 plus TOT, one site per order, filled first come, first served. You cannot save spaces, so RVs that want to camp together must arrive together.
- Hours: The Resort opens Thursday 9am and closes Monday 10am. RV check-in runs Thursday 9am to Friday 2am, Friday and Saturday 9am to 8pm and Sunday 9am to 3pm, with no early access.
Stagecoach RV rules
- What counts as an RV: the vehicle must have an installed, working toilet, a tank system for holding water and a place to sleep. One RV, trailer or motorhome per site, and no tents in RV sites.
- Power cord: you need 50 to 75 ft of electrical cord to reach the power point. If you trip the breaker twice, the RV is cut off for the rest of the festival.
- Generators: portable generators are banned. Only factory-installed RV generators are allowed, and you may be asked to turn one off if the exhaust bothers neighbours.
- Safety: the RV needs a working smoke detector and carbon monoxide monitor, and the festival says this is your job to check even in a rented vehicle.
- Parked all weekend: there are no vehicle ins and outs, so once you leave you lose the site. The Resort also has a vehicle lockdown from 9pm to 2am Friday to Sunday.
- Tanks: arrive with a full fresh water tank and empty grey and black tanks. Paid water and pump trucks roam the RV lots Friday to Sunday 7am to 7pm, with no pumping on Thursday. In 2026 a pump-out cost US$75 and up to 70 gallons of water US$100, and 2027 prices are not out yet.
- Extra vehicles and cooking: towed cars must unhook and use Camping Companion Parking (US$199, vehicles up to 8.5 ft by 16 ft). Outdoor cooking is limited to one certified two-burner propane tabletop stove, and campfires are banned.
Car camping is not for campervans with a sink or toilet
Stagecoach Car Camping (US$81 a night, US$324 plus TOT, 10 ft by 30 ft) allows passenger cars, trucks or vans only, bans RVs and motorhomes, and bans any vehicle with running water or a toilet. It was on a waitlist when we checked.
Waitlists
The official waitlist takes a refundable US$15 deposit per item, uses dynamic pricing and fills orders first come, first served. If it cannot fill your order, the deposit is refunded 7 to 10 days after the festival.
RV parks near Stagecoach if the lots sell out
- Shadow Hills RV Resort, 40655 Jefferson St, Indio: about 7 miles (11 km) away, with water, sewer and 30 and 50 amp power. Its festival page lists the Stagecoach weekend as 22 to 25 April 2027, RV sites at US$239 a night and a free shuttle for guests.
- Coachella Lakes RV Resort, 44790 Dillon Road, Coachella: less than 7 miles (11 km), full hookups with 30 and 50 amp power, a three-night minimum over festival dates, RVs 10 years old or newer and up to eight people per site. It runs no shuttle, so plan a ride.
- Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park, La Quinta: Riverside County festival camping about 20 minutes away, with RV sites at US$75 a night with water and electric or US$50 dry (April 2025 prices).
Outdoor Resort Indio takes Class A motorhomes only, so it does not suit the Class C rental motorhomes in our search.
How do you get to Stagecoach from Los Angeles?
The Empire Polo Club is at 81-800 Avenue 51, Indio, about 134 miles (216 km) from the Cruise America depot in Carson and 143 miles (230 km) from the Travellers Autobarn depot in Inglewood. Mapping estimates for a car are about 2 hours 40 minutes and 2 hours 50 minutes, so allow longer in an RV and extra time on the Thursday when The Resort opens.
- Route: take I-10 east to Indio and check the festival's Resort map before you go. Arrive in one go, because Resort campers who drive out lose their site.
- Fuel and supplies: the festival lists the Coachella Travel Center at the I-10 Dillon Rd exit and the Flying J at Thousand Palms (I-10 exit 130, about 15 miles away), both with showers. Fill up and stock up before check-in, then use The Resort's free supermarket shuttle for top-ups.
- Other pick-ups: San Diego is about 131 miles (210 km), roughly 2 hours 55 minutes, and Las Vegas about 267 to 280 miles (430 to 450 km), roughly 5 hours 10 to 5 hours 25 minutes. Cruise America also lists a rental center in Indio at 84420 Cabazon Rd.
- If you stay off site: there is no RV parking in the day, Preferred or ADA lots (vehicles up to 8.5 ft by 16 ft only). The Stagecoach Shuttle Pass is US$130, shuttles leave 1pm to 8pm and return until 60 minutes after the music ends. The rideshare stand at Avenue 49 and Monroe St runs Friday to Sunday 12pm to 3am.

8 day Stagecoach RV trip from Los Angeles
Dates assume an 8 day hire from Tuesday 20 to Tuesday 27 April 2027 with an RV site in The Resort. Drive times are mapping estimates for a car.
Day 1: Tuesday 20 April, Los Angeles to the desert
Collect your motorhome at the Los Angeles depot, check it has a working toilet, water tank, generator, smoke alarm and CO alarm, and ask how long the power cord is. Drive I-10 east to a Coachella Valley RV park, about 2 hours 40 minutes from the Carson depot with no stops.
Day 2: Wednesday 21 April, Joshua Tree and prep
Spend the morning in Joshua Tree National Park and check its entry fee and rules on the NPS site. In the afternoon fill the fresh water tank, empty the grey and black tanks, fuel up and buy food, ice and drinks (cans and plastic only, as glass is banned in The Resort).
Day 3: Thursday 22 April, check in to The Resort
RV check-in opens at 9am, with no early access. Set up, buy any extra cord at the General Store and enjoy the camp activities, as the music starts the next day.
Days 4 to 6: Friday 23 to Sunday 25 April, Stagecoach
Walk from your RV to the gates, which open at 1pm, and come back to rest between sets. The RV stays put all weekend, so use the free supermarket shuttle and the paid water and pump trucks in the RV lots.
Day 7: Monday 26 April, pack up
Leave The Resort before it closes at 10am, empty the tanks at a dump station and wash off the dust. Take a slow drive through Palm Springs and stay at a park on the way back towards Los Angeles.
Day 8: Tuesday 27 April, return
Return the RV to the depot within its return hours. Cruise America charges for an unemptied holding tank and an uncleaned interior, so clean up first.
Doing Coachella too? Coachella runs 9 to 11 and 16 to 18 April 2027 but has no RV camping, so see our Coachella RV rental guide, stay at an RV park for Coachella, then move into The Resort for Stagecoach.
Stagecoach RV tips
- Book the RV site and the RV together. Lots 8 and 5 were on sale and Lot 10 on a waitlist in October 2026, so secure a site, then a motorhome with a toilet, a water tank and a factory generator.
- Tell the rental company it is for Stagecoach. Cruise America says festival cancellations within 45 days lose the down payment and event deposits can be higher, so get the terms in writing.
- Pack a long power cord. Stagecoach says you need 50 to 75 ft of cord, so ask your rental depot what length comes with the RV and buy an RV extension if needed.
- Arrive full and empty. Fill the fresh water tank, empty the grey and black tanks and fuel up before Thursday check-in, because there is no pumping on Thursday and no ins and outs.
- Budget for the extras. Festival passes (GA from US$549), tax on the site, generator hours (Cruise America charges US$3.50 an hour) and pump-outs add up fast.
- Check the rules again in April. The Resort page still refers to 2026 rules in places, so read the final 2027 version before you drive in.
