Big Valley Jamboree 2027 runs from Thursday 29 July to Sunday 1 August at the Camrose Regional Exhibition in Camrose, Alberta, about 98 km (61 miles) south-east of downtown Edmonton. Big Valley Jamboree camping is sold by the weekend in five campgrounds, on primitive sites of 20 by 40 feet (oversized 30 by 50 feet) with no power or water hookups, from C$303.15 for a standard site, and campers can arrive early on Wednesday 28 July. Edmonton returned no rental vans in our live search on 19 October 2026, so the nearest bookable pick-up is Cruise Canada in Calgary, about 276 km (172 miles) away, from C$257 a night for 26 July to 3 August 2027.
Which rental brands suit Big Valley Jamboree?
One brand returned vans in our live search: Cruise Canada (the Canadian arm of Cruise America), from its Calgary depot at 2980 26th Street NE. It offered four motorhomes for 26 July to 3 August 2027: the Ultra Compact 18 ft (sleeps 2), Compact 21 ft (sleeps 4), Standard 25 ft (sleeps 5) and Large 30 ft (sleeps 7). All four have a toilet, shower and fridge, and all are 30 feet or shorter, so each fits the 40 foot length of a standard Big Valley Jamboree campsite.
Edmonton is the closer city, but the only rental depot there is CanaDream in Leduc, and our Edmonton search for the same dates found no vans. CanaDream also says one-way hires are generally not available into or out of Edmonton. Cruise Canada has no Edmonton centre, so Calgary is the pick-up to book.
- Festival rules: an RV counts as your one steering wheel vehicle. A towed trailer does not need its own vehicle pass, but your camping unit must not be bigger than the site you bought.
- Power: Big Valley Jamboree sites have no hookups. In Canada only the Large 30 ft has a generator, and Cruise America says the Ultra Compact needs external power for its 120 V furnace and air conditioning. If you want air conditioning on site, the Large is the one to pick.
- Cancellations: Cruise America says that in areas where special events such as music festivals take place, cancelling within 45 days of pick-up forfeits your down payment. It does not say whether this covers Alberta, so ask before you book.
Compare these motorhomes for your dates on our Calgary motorhome and campervan page, or check the Edmonton page in case CanaDream vans return.
What does Big Valley Jamboree RV rental cost?
Live prices from our Campervan Rental Guide search on 19 October 2026 for a Calgary pick-up on Monday 26 July 2027 and return on Tuesday 3 August 2027 (8 nights). Prices are Canadian dollars per night, with the total for 8 nights.
- Ultra Compact 18 ft (sleeps 2): C$256.97 a night, C$2,118.70 total
- Compact 21 ft (sleeps 4): C$263.37 a night, C$2,169.87 total
- Standard 25 ft (sleeps 5): C$357.42 a night, C$2,922.31 total
- Large 30 ft (sleeps 7): C$383.01 a night, C$3,126.99 total
What is not in those prices
- Kilometres: Cruise America charges Canadian rentals for an estimated 160 km per night up front (1,280 km over 8 nights) at 39 cents per kilometre, then refunds unused kilometres or charges extra at return. The currency is not stated. The Calgary to Camrose round trip is about 552 km (343 miles). A Half Price Mileage Deal (promo code FRDM) is listed for departures through 31 October 2027.
- Kits: a Personal Kit is listed at 75 dollars per person and a Vehicle Provisioning Kit (cookware, crockery, cutlery) at 125 dollars per vehicle, currency not stated.
- Generator and tanks: the Large 30 ft generator is listed at 3.50 dollars an hour, and a holding tank not emptied before return can cost up to 100 dollars.
- Festival camping: a weekend campsite costs from C$303.15 (standard) to C$492.88 (oversize) on top of the hire, plus a Weekend General Admission pass of C$404.67 for each person on the site.
- Other extras: showers in the campground are 10 dollars each, and drinking water hauling is cash only. Check Cruise Canada terms for one-way fees, insurance and cancellation before you pay.
RV camping at Big Valley Jamboree
Camping is a big part of Big Valley Jamboree, and 2027 campsites were already on sale through Front Gate Tickets when we checked on 19 October 2026. Every campsite is sold for the whole festival, never for a single night, and you need a full weekend pass to buy a site and to enter the campgrounds. Book through the official tickets and camping page.
The campgrounds and 2027 prices
- Premier Camping: the closest camping to the venue, C$639.24, sold out.
- Country Nation: the late one, with quiet time at 2 AM. Standard C$303.15, Premium C$319.42, Oversize C$492.88.
- Heartland: quiet time at midnight. Standard C$303.15, Oversize C$492.88 (Premium sold out).
- Legends: quiet time at midnight. Standard C$303.15, Oversize C$492.88.
- Legacy: quiet time at midnight, C$384.46, sold out.
- Accessible camping: sold by phone on 1 888 404 1234.
Prices are the listed Front Gate prices on 19 October 2026. The camping pages do not say whether fees and tax are included, and they do not explain what a Premium site adds.
Site size, power and services
- Size: standard sites are 20 by 40 feet (about 6 by 12 metres), oversized sites are 30 by 50 feet (about 9 by 15 metres). An oversize rig needs two sites side by side, and slide-outs must not cross into a neighbouring site.
- One steering wheel: each site includes parking for one vehicle such as a motorhome. You can add one Secondary Vehicle Pass (C$110.06). Any other vehicles go in Weekend Overnight Parking (C$131.71) or offsite.
- No hookups: all sites are primitive, with no power, water or sewer. Generators may run from 7 AM to midnight.
- Water and waste: non-potable water stations, portable toilets and showers (10 dollars each) are spread through the campground. Drinking water hauling is by text and cash only, and septic pump-out can be ordered by phone.
- People: there is no limit on people per site, but the site is registered to one adult aged 18 or over, and everyone in the campground needs a full-event wristband.
Arrival and rules
- Early arrival: Front Gate lists early camper arrival on Wednesday 28 July 2027. The festival says campers can come from 9 AM on the Wednesday (2026 wording).
- Gates and driving: gates close at 10 PM each night and you cannot enter after that. There is no driving after 10:30 PM.
- Drop-off only: if someone else delivers your RV, a Camper Drop-Off Pass (C$23.13) lets them in on Wednesday 28 or Thursday 29 July only.
- Leaving: the latest published rules ask for your site to be clean and empty by the end of the day on Monday.
- Banned in camp: open flames (only approved propane heaters and fire pits), upholstered furniture, glass, golf carts, ATVs and bicycles. Pets are discouraged and must stay leashed at your site.
Getting to Big Valley Jamboree from Edmonton and Calgary
The festival is at the Camrose Regional Exhibition, 4250 Exhibition Drive, Camrose, on Highway 13 in central Alberta.
- From the Cruise Canada Calgary depot (2980 26th Street NE): about 276 km (172 miles), around 3 hours 30 minutes. Take Highway 2 north for about 176 km, Highway 2A for about 47 km, then Highway 13 east for about 39 km into Camrose.
- From Calgary airport: about 268 km (167 miles), around 3 hours 30 minutes. Cruise Canada does not offer airport transfers, and the depot is about 12 km from the airport.
- From downtown Edmonton: about 98 km (61 miles), around 1 hour 30 minutes via Highway 21 and Highway 13.
- From Edmonton airport or the CanaDream depot in Leduc: about 77 to 79 km (48 to 49 miles), around 1 hour 10 minutes.
- In Camrose: festival shuttles run within Camrose on a 15 minute loop from pick-up points at the Encana Arena and Duggan Mall, handy if friends are staying in town.
Drive times are free-flow estimates from OSRM. Arrive well before gates close at 10 PM, because late campers cannot enter and there is no driving after 10:30 PM. Compare pick-ups on our Calgary page and read the festival info page.
An 8 night Big Valley Jamboree road trip from Calgary
This plan matches our live search: pick up Monday 26 July, return Tuesday 3 August 2027. Cruise Canada centres are closed on Sundays and holidays, and pick-up is normally 1 PM to 4 PM with drop-off 9 AM to 11 AM.
Day 1 (Mon 26 Jul): Calgary to Drumheller
Collect your motorhome, stock up on food and water, and drive about 126 km (78 miles, around 1 hour 45 minutes) on Highway 9 to Drumheller. Pick a campground from the Travel Drumheller list.
Day 2 (Tue 27 Jul): Dinosaurs, then north to Miquelon Lake
Visit the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in the morning, then drive about 211 km (131 miles, around 3 hours) to Miquelon Lake Provincial Park, 33 km north of Camrose. It has 187 power sites (15 or 30 amp) and a sewage disposal station, with reservations opening 90 days ahead. Fill the fresh water tank and empty the waste tanks here, because festival sites have no services.
Day 3 (Wed 28 Jul): Early camper arrival
Drive about 33 km (21 miles, 35 minutes) to the festival and set up on your site on early arrival day.
Day 4 (Thu 29 Jul): Kickoff night
Main Street and the Thursday Night Kickoff Party (18+, separate ticket) get the weekend started.
Days 5 to 7 (Fri 30 Jul to Sun 1 Aug): Festival days
Main stage days. Your motorhome stays put on its site, and a paid golf cart taxi runs around the campgrounds.
Day 8 (Mon 2 Aug): Pack up and head south
Clear your site, then drive about 137 km (85 miles, around 2 hours) towards Red Deer and stay at a campground nearby.
Day 9 (Tue 3 Aug): Return
Drive the last 142 km (88 miles, about 1 hour 45 minutes) to Calgary and return between 9 AM and 11 AM. Cruise America charges 25 dollars an hour for late returns.
Tips for Big Valley Jamboree in an RV
- Book the campsite first. 2027 sites are on sale now, and Premier, Legacy and Heartland Premium were already sold out on 19 October 2026.
- Plan for no power. Sites have no hookups. Only the Large 30 ft has a generator in Canada, and the Ultra Compact needs external power for its furnace and air conditioning.
- Arrive full, leave empty. Fill water and dump tanks before you arrive. On site, drinking water is delivered for cash, and Cruise America can charge up to 100 dollars for a tank not emptied at return.
- Check the fit. Standard sites are 20 by 40 feet. A tow vehicle needs the Secondary Vehicle Pass, and a rig bigger than the site needs two sites.
- Arrive before 10 PM. Gates close at 10 PM and no driving is allowed after 10:30 PM, so leave Calgary early on arrival day.
- Mind the kilometres. Expect about 552 km for the return drive from Calgary, more with side trips, at 39 cents a kilometre.
