The Okanagan Fall Wine Festival is a run of tastings, dinners and winery events (10 days in 2025 and 2026) across British Columbia's Okanagan Valley, from Kelowna south to Penticton, Oliver and Osoyoos. The 2027 dates were not announced when we checked on 19 October 2026; it ran 25 September to 4 October in 2026, so expect late September or early October. There is no festival campground, so base your motorhome at lakeside BC Parks campgrounds such as Bear Creek near Kelowna (shoulder season rate C$35 a night). In our live search for a Vancouver pick-up from 29 September to 8 October 2027, Cruise Canada motorhomes start at C$47.62 a night before kilometre charges.
Which rental brands suit the Okanagan Wine Festival?
One brand returned vans in our live search for a Vancouver pick-up: Cruise Canada (the Canadian arm of Cruise America), from its depot at 7731 Vantage Way in Delta. It offered all four of its motorhomes for 29 September to 8 October 2027: the Ultra Compact 18 ft (sleeps 2), Compact 21 ft (sleeps 4), Standard 25 ft (sleeps 5) and Large 30 ft (sleeps 7). Each has a toilet, shower and fridge, so you can stay at campgrounds or self-contained winery stays.
CanaDream is the other big Canadian brand, but it returned no vehicles in our searches from Vancouver or Calgary for these dates, so we cannot offer it for the festival right now.
- Best value: in this search the Large 30 ft cost the same nightly rate as the Compact 21 ft, so groups of three or more get far more room for the money.
- Cold nights: Cruise America says the Ultra Compact's furnace and air conditioning run on 120 V and need external power, and in Canada only the Large has a generator. Book electrical sites if you choose the Ultra Compact.
- Sundays: Cruise Canada centres are closed on Sundays and holidays, and Thanksgiving Monday falls on 11 October 2027, so plan pick-up and return on other days.
- Calgary option: the same four models are available from Cruise Canada's Calgary depot, from C$44.65 a night for the same dates, but Kelowna is about 609 km (378 miles) away.
Compare these vehicles for your dates on our Vancouver motorhome and campervan page.
What does an Okanagan Wine Festival RV rental cost?
Live prices from the Campervan Rental Guide search for a Vancouver (Delta) pick-up on Wednesday 29 September 2027 and return on Friday 8 October 2027 (9 nights), searched on 19 October 2026. Prices are Canadian dollars per night, with the total for 9 nights.
- Compact 21 ft (sleeps 4): C$47.62 a night, C$495.74 total
- Large 30 ft (sleeps 7): C$47.62 a night, C$495.74 total
- Ultra Compact 18 ft (sleeps 2): C$68.11 a night, C$680.15 total
- Standard 25 ft (sleeps 5): C$68.83 a night, C$686.57 total
A longer hire from 29 September to Tuesday 12 October 2027 (13 nights, covering Thanksgiving weekend) started at C$47.65 a night. From Calgary, 29 September to 8 October 2027 started at C$44.65 a night for the Compact, Standard and Ultra Compact, and C$57.47 for the Large.
What is not in those prices
- Kilometres: Cruise America's FAQ says Canadian rentals are charged for an estimated 160 km per night at 39 cents per kilometre, collected up front (1,440 km for 9 nights), with unused kilometres refunded and extra ones charged at return. The FAQ does not state the currency. The 10 day loop below covers about 1,150 km, roughly 450 dollars at that rate. A Half Price Mileage Deal (promo code FRDM) is listed for departures through 31 October 2027.
- Kits: a Personal Kit is listed at 75 dollars per person and a Vehicle Provisioning Kit (cookware, crockery, cutlery, kettle) at 125 dollars per vehicle, currency not stated.
- Generator: the Large 30 ft generator is 3.50 dollars an hour, currency not stated.
- Campsites: BC Parks lists shoulder season rates of C$32 to C$35 a night at the Okanagan parks below, plus C$8 to C$10 for power, a C$6 a night reservation fee (maximum C$18, plus tax) and a C$20 per stay fee for visitors from outside BC.
- Festival tickets: each event is ticketed separately. In 2026, the Varietal Showdown tasting cost 65 dollars and the Sunset Sip outdoor tasting 80 dollars early or 85 dollars regular.
- Tank dump: a holding tank not emptied before return can add a charge of up to 100 dollars.
Where to camp for the Okanagan Wine Festival
The festival does not offer camping. Its events run at wineries and venues across the valley, so you choose a base and move between them. In 2026 most Okanagan BC Parks campgrounds operated until Thanksgiving Monday, 12 October, which covers an early October festival. Their 2027 dates were not published when we checked, except Fintry Park (operating 24 March to 27 October 2027). BC Parks takes reservations up to three months before arrival at camping.bcparks.ca.
BC Parks campgrounds near the wineries
- Bear Creek Park (West Kelowna): 143 vehicle sites on Okanagan Lake, about 16 km (10 miles) from downtown Kelowna. 55 sites have 30 amp power, and seven paved pull-through sites have 50 amp power and water. Sani-station on site in season (C$5). 2026 shoulder rate C$35 a night plus C$8 (30 amp) or C$10 (50 amp).
- Okanagan Lake Park (Summerland): two lakeside campgrounds 11 km north of Summerland, handy for Summerland, Penticton and the Naramata Bench. The North Campground closed on 20 September in 2026; the South Campground (with a shower building) ran to 12 October and stays open with winter rates (C$13, no services) until snowfall. Some South sites are not suitable for motorhomes. Shoulder rate C$35.
- sẁiẁs Park (Osoyoos): 41 lakeside sites 2 km south of Osoyoos, many able to take larger RVs, for the Oliver and Osoyoos wineries. No electrical hook-ups are listed. Maximum stay seven nights. Shoulder rate C$32.
- Kekuli Bay Park (Vernon): terraced sites above Kalamalka Lake, 11 km south of Vernon, with large gravel pads for big RVs and four 15 or 30 amp electrical sites (C$8 extra). Shoulder rate C$32.
- Fintry Park (Westside Road): 190 sites about 34 km north of Kelowna; sites 161 to 190 have 50 amp power (C$10 extra). Shoulder rate C$32.
Private RV parks open in October
Visit Penticton's 2025 camping list shows Oxbow RV Resort and Wright's Beach Camp in Penticton and Lakeside Resort in Oliver as open year-round with full hook-ups. Confirm with each park before you book. The same list shows public sani-dumps at the Trout Creek pull-out in Summerland (March to November, C$15), Oliver Airport (year-round, C$10) and the Town of Osoyoos (April to October, free).
Overnight at a winery
Harvest Hosts, a paid annual membership, lists 126 BC locations including 14 wineries, with Okanagan winery hosts in Peachland (rigs up to 40 ft), Oliver (over 45 ft, pull-through), Osoyoos, Kelowna and Cawston. Stays are for self-contained RVs, host names are shown to members only, and hosts expect you to support them with a purchase. We found no festival-wide policy on RV parking at wineries, so ask before you drive a motorhome to a tasting room.
Drinking at camp
Under BC's Liquor Control and Licensing Regulation, a motorhome that is not on a highway and is used as a dwelling in an area where camping is allowed counts as a private place, so a glass of wine at your campsite is fine.
Getting from Vancouver to the Okanagan Wine Festival
In 2026 the festival's own fall tastings were in Kelowna, while member wineries run events from Lake Country south through Penticton, Oliver and Osoyoos. Two main routes cross the mountains from Cruise Canada's Delta depot, so drive one each way.
- Coquihalla route (Highway 1, 5 and 97C): Delta depot to downtown Kelowna is about 384 km (239 miles), around 4 hours 45 minutes. Take Highway 1 to Hope, the Coquihalla (Highway 5) to Merritt, then the Okanagan Connector (Highway 97C), which tops out at Pennask Summit, 1,728 m (5,669 ft).
- Crowsnest route (Highway 3): Delta depot to Osoyoos is about 392 km (244 miles), around 5 hours 15 minutes, through Hope, E.C. Manning Park (Allison Pass, 1,342 m), Princeton and the Similkameen Valley wine region around Keremeos and Cawston. Penticton is about 390 km via Highway 3A.
- Within the valley: Highway 97 links the wine towns. Osoyoos to Kelowna is about 124 km (77 miles), roughly 2 hours.
- From Vancouver airport: YVR is about 22 km from the Delta depot, and Cruise Canada does not offer airport transfers, so take a taxi. YVR to Kelowna is about 399 km.
- From Calgary: Cruise Canada's Calgary depot to Kelowna is about 609 km (378 miles), around 8 hours 30 minutes on the Trans-Canada Highway through the Rockies and Revelstoke. See our Calgary page.
October driving rules
From 1 October, recreational vehicles must obey winter tyre and chain signs on designated BC highways, and the minimum for RVs is M+S tyres. Ask Cruise Canada to confirm your motorhome's tyres. Check DriveBC for pass conditions before you set off.
Drive times are free-flow estimates from OSRM. Compare pick-ups on our Vancouver page and check event venues on the official events calendar.
A 10 day Okanagan wine country loop from Vancouver
This plan matches our live search: pick up Wednesday 29 September, return Friday 8 October 2027. It goes out on Highway 3 and back on the Coquihalla. Festival events for 2027 were not published, so slot tastings in from the official calendar, and never drive after tasting. Check each campground's 2027 season before you book.
Day 1 (Wed 29 Sep): Pick up and head for the mountains
Collect your motorhome in Delta (pick-up is normally 1 PM to 4 PM) and drive about 214 km (133 miles, 3 hours) to E.C. Manning Park. Skyview RV Campground is open year-round with 15, 30 and 50 amp power, and is booked through Manning Park Resort.
Day 2 (Thu 30 Sep): Similkameen to Osoyoos
Cross Allison Pass and follow Highway 3 through Princeton, Keremeos and Cawston to sẁiẁs Park in Osoyoos, about 181 km (112 miles, 2 hours 30 minutes).
Day 3 (Fri 1 Oct): Oliver and Osoyoos wineries
Leave the motorhome parked and book a wine tour or taxi to the Golden Mile Bench and the Osoyoos wineries. Oliver is 24 km north of the park.
Day 4 (Sat 2 Oct): North to Summerland
Drive about 93 km (58 miles) up Highway 97 to Okanagan Lake Park. Spend the afternoon on a tour of the Naramata Bench or Summerland wineries.
Day 5 (Sun 3 Oct): Kelowna
Move 44 km to Bear Creek Park on Westside Road, about 25 minutes from downtown Kelowna, and book a powered site. In 2026 the festival's Sunset Sip tasting ran on a Saturday afternoon in downtown Kelowna; use a taxi to and from evening events.
Days 6 and 7 (Mon 4 and Tue 5 Oct): Festival events
Use the calendar to pick tastings and dinners in Kelowna, the East Kelowna slopes and Lake Country, where the Scenic Sip wine trail links several wineries.
Day 8 (Wed 6 Oct): Kalamalka Lake
Drive about 59 km (37 miles) north to Kekuli Bay Park near Vernon for a quiet night above the lake.
Day 9 (Thu 7 Oct): Back over the Coquihalla
Drive about 423 km (263 miles, 5 hours 25 minutes) via Highway 97C and the Coquihalla to Burnaby Cariboo RV Park, which has full hook-ups and a short walk to SkyTrain.
Day 10 (Fri 8 Oct): Return
Empty the tanks and drive 21 km to the Delta depot for drop-off between 9 AM and 11 AM.
Tips for the Okanagan Wine Festival in an RV
- Park the motorhome before you taste. In BC a breath reading of 0.05 or more can bring an immediate 3 day driving ban and a possible vehicle impound for a first offence, and 0.08 or more brings 90 days. Book tours or taxis between wineries.
- Keep bottles sealed or stowed. BC law bans driving with liquor in the vehicle unless it is unopened with an unbroken seal or not readily accessible to the driver and passengers.
- Book campsites as soon as the window opens. BC Parks takes reservations three months ahead, and several Okanagan parks closed for the season on 12 October in 2026.
- Plan for chilly nights. Book a powered site, especially in the Ultra Compact, whose furnace needs external power.
- Check your tyres. Winter tyre and chain rules start on 1 October on designated BC highways, including mountain passes on both routes from Vancouver.
- Watch the kilometre bill. Cruise America charges 39 cents a kilometre, so use the Half Price Mileage Deal (code FRDM) if it still applies when you book.
