Tickets are sold by ballot and Meredith 34 has sold out, so secure a ticket before you book a van.
Which rental brands suit Meredith Music Festival?
Ten brands we compare returned campervans or motorhomes from Melbourne in our live search for Wednesday 9 to Tuesday 15 December 2026: Apollo, Britz, Camperman, Campervan Village, Jucy, Maui, Mighty, Spaceships, Star RV and Travellers Autobarn. We found no Meredith-specific rules from these brands, but the festival's own rules shape which van suits you best: there is no power or water hookup, waste water cannot be emptied on site, and gas, cooking equipment and generators are banned.
- Budget two and three sleepers: Campervan Village (Mini Camper with a rooftop tent, Aventus, Johnny Feelgood, Alice Chillgood), Jucy (Chill'd Cloudbreak, Coaster), Travellers Autobarn (Modern Budget Touring Wagon, Budgie, Chubby, Hitop, Kuga), Spaceships (Alpha, Beta 2S) and Mighty (HiLITE, Highball, DeLITE, Double Down) suit couples who will use the festival showers and toilets.
- Two and three sleepers with shower and toilet: Mighty Duo, Deuce and Deuce Plus, Apollo Euro Mini, Euro Tourer and Euro Plus, Britz Trailblazer, Star RV Polaris 2 and Maui Ultima Plus. Check with Aunty Meredith before relying on an on-board toilet, as waste cannot be dumped on site.
- Four to six berths for groups: Jucy Crib Plus, Condo and Chill'd Big Kahuna, Travellers Autobarn Hi5, Spaceships Beta 4 Berth, Britz Voyager and Warrior 4WD, Mighty Double Up and Big Six, Apollo Euro Camper, Euro Quest and Euro Deluxe, Camperman Maxie 4, Campervan Village Grip 4x4 and Desert Sands, Star RV Polaris 6 and Maui Cascade and Sunset.
- Gas cookers: many of the campervans in our results list a gas cooker. Meredith says gas bottles will not make it through the gate, so ask the brand before you book whether the gas bottle and stove can be removed or left at the depot.
Auto-Sleepers appears in our Melbourne operator list but returned no vans for these dates, so we do not list it as bookable. Our Melbourne campervan hire page lists every depot and lets you change the dates or drop-off city.

These rates leave out insurance excess options, one-way fees, extras such as camping kits, and fuel. There is no separate camping or vehicle pass at Meredith: the single festival ticket for Meredith 34 costs $541 including booking fee and covers all three days, camping and parking. Kids under 12 are free but must be registered, and everyone 12 and over needs a full price ticket. See the official ticket price page.
Meredith camping in a campervan: rules, campgrounds and facilities
Everyone camps on site at Meredith. Campervans, motorhomes, caravans and converted buses are welcome at no extra charge, and camping and parking are included in the festival ticket. All details below come from the official Meredith site, checked in October 2026.
Rules for campervans, motorhomes and caravans
- Where you park: Helpers and traffic marshals may direct vehicles like yours to certain parts of the site, especially after wet weather or when campsites are nearly full, so you may not get a free choice of spot.
- No reserved sites: campsites cannot be reserved. It is first in, best camped, so arrive in convoy if you want to camp with friends.
- No power, water or waste: power and running water are not provided, apart from free drinking water points, and you cannot dispose of waste water on site. Dumping waste of any kind and BYO toilets are on the banned list.
- No gas or cooking: a total fire ban applies all day and night. Gas bottles, BBQs, camp stoves, generators and any other cooking equipment, including induction and solar cooktops, are banned, and vehicles are searched at Reception. Meredith asks you to remove gas bottles before you leave home.
- Vehicle checks: safety checks take longer for campervans, motorhomes and caravans. All vehicles must be registered and roadworthy, and the festival asks you not to bring an RV whose lithium battery has been in a recent accident or modified.
- Driving on site: the speed limit is 5 km/h and the festival says never reverse. If you might leave early, park in the Public Parking area near Reception. Late arrivals parking opens at 6pm on the first day.
- Times: gates open at 8am on Friday and close at 4:30pm on Sunday. There is no camping on Sunday night.
The six campgrounds
Meredith has six main campgrounds: Top Camp (the largest and closest to the stage), Bush Camp (sheltered and popular with early arrivals, with no bus access), South Pines (quiet, with sunset views), Bluegums (a forest of young bluegums on flat ground), Tom Mankeys (vast and elevated, with composting toilets) and Outer Space. All are close to toilets, drinking water, security and Helpers. Two Ease of Access Camping zones, in Bush Camp and Top Camp, can be reserved by emailing Aunty Meredith at least two weeks before the festival.
Facilities on site
- Showers at two locations, open 24 hours, cost $3 for 3 minutes with tokens bought by card. A free open-air dousing shower sits next to them.
- Free drinking water points are spread through the campgrounds. Meredith suggests bringing a large refillable container, such as 10 litres.
- Heaven Eleven, a 24-hour general store, sells forgotten items, and ice is sold near the Meredith Eye. Phone recharging is at the Tucker Tent.
- A free shuttle runs to Meredith town on Saturday from 9am to 9pm, leaving Reception on the hour.
Camping near Meredith before the festival
Roadblocks go up on Thursday night and you cannot camp by the road, so book somewhere for the night before. Parks Victoria's Fridays Campground, about 2 km north of Steiglitz in the Brisbane Ranges National Park, has 10 unpowered sites, 2 of them suitable for camper trailers or caravans. Boar Gully Campground at the northern end of the park has six tent sites plus one for a camper trailer or caravan, non-flush toilets and tank water that is not for drinking. Both must be booked, so check your van suits the site. Geelong and Ballarat, each about 40 km from Meredith town, also have holiday parks, so check each one for powered sites and a dump point. More on the official caravans, campervans and motorhomes page.
How to get from Melbourne to Meredith Music Festival
The Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre is on Meredith-Mount Mercer Road, about 90 km due west of Melbourne. The festival says the drive from the Melbourne CBD usually takes 110 minutes, but on the Friday you should allow up to 3.5 hours. Its driving directions from Melbourne are:
- Take the Princes Freeway (M1) towards Geelong, keep right for the Geelong Bypass and follow the signs to Colac.
- After about 10 km on the bypass, take the Ballarat exit (A300) and turn right onto the Midland Highway.
- Drive about 40 km to Meredith, turn left after the service station onto Meredith-Mount Mercer Road, and the venue is about 13 km along.
Follow these directions rather than GPS back roads. Traffic holding bays several kilometres out slow arrivals and check wristbands, roads stay two-way, and you must stay left and not overtake. The festival's first-day guide is 3.5 hours from Melbourne CBD or Melbourne Airport, 2.5 hours from Avalon Airport and 2 hours from Geelong or Ballarat.
Where to pick up your campervan
- Somerton: the shared Apollo, Britz, Maui and Mighty branch at 40 Hume Highway opens daily from 9am to 3:30pm, with collection or return by 2:30pm.
- Tullamarine: Jucy and Star RV are about 7 km from Melbourne Airport and open until 2pm on weekends. Travellers Autobarn, also in Tullamarine, closes on Sundays.
- Williamstown North: Spaceships offers 24/7 contactless pick-up and sits on the west side of the city, handy for the Geelong route.
- Coburg North and Ringwood: Camperman runs pick-up slots from 9am to 4pm, and Campervan Village in Ringwood is closed on Sundays.
Because the festival ends on a Sunday and some depots close on Sundays, plan to return on Monday or later. If you would rather not drive, the Supernatural Express coach runs from Southern Cross, Thornbury, Geelong and Ballarat, and V/Line train and bus services link to a free shuttle from Meredith town. Start from our Melbourne campervan hire page and see the official directions page.
A 7 day Meredith Music Festival campervan trip from Melbourne
This plan matches our search dates, collecting on Wednesday 9 December and returning on Tuesday 15 December 2026. Hold a festival ticket before you book anything.
Day 1 (Wednesday 9 December): Collect your campervan
Pick up in Melbourne before your depot's last collection time. Ask about removing the gas bottle and stove, then shop for food that needs no cooking and drinks in cans or plastic, since glass is confiscated at the gate.
Day 2 (Thursday 10 December): Brisbane Ranges National Park
Drive towards Geelong and spend the night at a booked site such as Fridays Campground near Steiglitz, or at a holiday park in Geelong. Fill your water tanks and empty any waste tanks, as neither is possible at the festival.
Day 3 (Friday 11 December): Arrive and set up
Gates open at 8am. Meet your friends beforehand so you arrive in convoy, allow time at Reception for the vehicle check, and set up camp. Music starts in the afternoon and runs until 4am.
Day 4 (Saturday 12 December): The big day
The stage runs from 10am through to 7am Sunday. The free shuttle to Meredith town runs from 9am to 9pm if you need supplies. Pack warm layers, as nights can be very cold.
Day 5 (Sunday 13 December): Pack up and leave
Music finishes mid-afternoon and gates close at 4:30pm, with no camping on Sunday night. Use the free breath testing on site before you drive, then head about 40 km to a booked holiday park in Geelong or Ballarat to shower, recharge and empty your tanks.
Day 6 (Monday 14 December): Geelong or Ballarat
Take a recovery day on the Geelong waterfront or around Ballarat, or drive south from Geelong to Torquay for a taste of the coast before heading back.
Day 7 (Tuesday 15 December): Return the van
Drive back to Melbourne, refuel, and return the campervan before your depot's cut-off time.
Tips for Meredith Music Festival in a campervan
- Get a ticket before the van: tickets are sold through the Subscriber Ticket Ballot in August, then Online Sales. Meredith 34 has sold out, so join Aunty's Waitlist and use only the official resale service, which closes 14 days before the festival.
- Sort out the gas before you go: gas bottles, stoves and all cooking equipment are banned and vehicles are searched, so ask the rental brand how to remove or leave the gas behind, and email Aunty Meredith if your van has built-in gas.
- Arrive full, leave empty: fill water tanks and empty waste tanks before you arrive, because there is no water hookup or waste disposal on site. Bring a big refillable water container.
- Charge everything first: there is no power and generators are banned, so bring charged power banks and do not leave lithium batteries charging unattended.
- Arrive in convoy: campsites cannot be reserved and vehicles may be directed to certain areas, so travel with your group if you want to camp together.
- Pack for cold nights: Meredith warns it can get very cold at night even after a hot day, so bring warm and waterproof clothes, blankets and sensible shoes.
