QLD school holidays end 11 April 2027

Ultra Beach Gold Coast is a one day, 18+ electronic music festival at Broadwater Parklands in Southport, held in April (Sunday 12 April in 2026), and the 2027 date has not been announced yet. There is no camping at the event, and the City of Gold Coast bans sleeping overnight in a vehicle on council roads, car parks and parks, so book a powered site at Broadwater Tourist Park next door or another Gold Coast holiday park. In our live Gold Coast search for 9 to 16 April 2027, campervans collected from Brisbane depots start from about $42 a day, with 11 brands showing vans, and G:link light rail stations sit a short walk from the festival entry.

Which rental brands suit Ultra Beach Gold Coast?

Eleven brands we compare returned campervans or motorhomes in our live Gold Coast search for Friday 9 April to Friday 16 April 2027: Apollo, Auto Sleepers, Britz, Camperman, Campervan Village, Jucy, Maui, Mighty, Spaceships, Star RV and Travellers Autobarn. Our Gold Coast search collects vans from Brisbane depots, so plan on a drive of about an hour down the M1 after pickup. We found no festival rules about campervans, because Ultra is a one day event with no camping or vehicle passes. What matters more is where you sleep, which must be a licensed holiday park.

  • Budget two and three sleepers: Campervan Village (Mini Camper with a rooftop tent, Aventus, Johnny Feelgood, Alice Chillgood), Travellers Autobarn (Budgie, Chubby, Hitop, Kuga), Jucy (Chill'd Cloudbreak, Malibu, Coaster), Spaceships (Alpha, Beta) and Mighty (HiLITE, DeLITE, Highball) suit a festival weekend where you use the holiday park showers and toilets.
  • Self-contained with shower and toilet: Camperman Maxie 4 Shower and Toilet, Mighty Duo and Deuce, Apollo Euro Mini and Euro Tourer, Britz Trailblazer, Star RV Polaris 2 and the Maui Ultima range suit couples heading on to the hinterland or Byron Bay.
  • Four to six berths for groups: Jucy Chill'd Sunseeker, Condo, Crib Plus and Chill'd Big Kahuna, Spaceships Beta 4 Berth, Travellers Autobarn Hi5, Auto Sleepers Kea Navigator, Britz Voyager, Mighty Double Up and Big Six, Apollo Euro Quest, Euro Camper and Euro Deluxe, Star RV Polaris 6 and Maui Beach and River.
  • 4WD: Campervan Village D5 4x4 and Grip 4x4, Mighty 4WD Camper, Apollo 4WD Adventure Camper and Overland Camper, and Britz Warrior 4WD. You do not need 4WD to reach Southport, the hinterland lookouts or Byron Bay on our suggested route.

Two vehicles showed On Request rather than instant confirmation: the Travellers Autobarn Modern Budget Touring Wagon and the Campervan Village Grip 4x4 Camper. Our Gold Coast search also lets you change the drop-off city if you want a one-way hire after the festival.

How much does campervan hire for Ultra Beach Gold Coast cost?

Prices below are in Australian dollars per day from our live Gold Coast search on 19 October 2026, picking up Friday 9 April 2027 and returning Friday 16 April 2027, with all vans collected from Brisbane depots. The 2027 festival date is not confirmed, so these dates assume Ultra stays in mid April. Nearly every vehicle showed Available Now with instant confirmation. The results page also shows a total for the hire, for example $529.77 for the Campervan Village Mini Camper and $740.31 for the Jucy Chill'd Sunseeker.

  • Two sleepers: about $45 to $315 a day (Campervan Village Aventus to Britz Maverick).
  • Three sleepers: about $42 to $278 a day (Campervan Village Mini Camper, Travellers Autobarn Hitop and Kuga, Camperman Juliette and Maxie 3, Mighty Deuce Plus, Auto Sleepers Kea Nomad 2+1, Maui Ultima Plus Elite).
  • Two sleepers with shower and toilet: about $192 to $278 a day (Mighty Duo, Apollo Euro Mini, Britz Trailblazer, Star RV Polaris 2, Maui Ultima Plus).
  • Four sleepers: about $93 to $321 a day (Jucy Chill'd Sunseeker to Britz Warrior 4WD, including the Camperman Maxie 4 Shower and Toilet at about $137).
  • Five and six sleepers: about $200 to $326 a day (Campervan Village Grip 4x4 and Desert Sands, Jucy Chill'd Big Kahuna, Star RV Polaris 6, Mighty Big Six, Apollo Euro Deluxe, Maui River).

These rates leave out insurance excess options, one-way fees, extras such as camping kits, fuel and holiday park fees. Festival tickets are separate too. For the 2026 edition Ultra listed General Admission at $175 (Tier 1, sold out) and $185 (Tier 2), VIP at $300 and $330, and VIP+ at $550, plus booking fees. 2027 prices are not out yet, so check the official Gold Coast tickets page.

Where to stay in a campervan for Ultra Beach Gold Coast

There is no camping at Ultra Beach Gold Coast. It is a one day festival inside a public park, and the official site lists no camping, campervan parking or vehicle passes. You also cannot sleep in your van on the street nearby. The City of Gold Coast says it is illegal to occupy, sleep or attempt to sleep overnight in a vehicle parked on a local government road, car park or park, whether or not signs are displayed, and its officers patrol public areas and may issue fines. The answer is a licensed holiday park.

Broadwater Tourist Park, next door to the festival

  • Location: 169 Marine Parade, Southport. The park describes Broadwater Parklands as just next door and Australia Fair as a 15 minute walk away, so you can walk to the festival entry and back.
  • Sites: powered sites including waterfront powered sites, plus cabins.
  • Facilities: chemical toilet dump point, two camp kitchens, barbecues, two seasonally heated pools, coin laundry and a kiosk.
  • Times: site check-in from 11am and check-out by 10am, with later departures charged as an extra day. Fees are paid in advance.

Other Gold Coast Tourist Parks

  • Main Beach Tourist Park: 3600 Main Beach Parade, Main Beach, with powered and ensuite sites and a dump point. The park says Surfers Paradise is 3 km south.
  • Further south: Ocean Beach (Miami), Burleigh Beach, Tallebudgera Creek and Kirra Beach tourist parks suit the drive to the hinterland or Byron Bay after the festival.
  • Further north: Jacobs Well Tourist Park is quieter, but you would need to drive back towards Southport on festival day.

The City of Gold Coast lists 7 tourist parks and 3 island campgrounds, all on the council tourist parks page. Queensland state school holidays run from 26 March to 11 April 2027, so if Ultra lands on the usual mid April weekend, book early. We found no published site prices, vehicle length limits or event-weekend minimum stays, so confirm these with the park when you book.

How to get to Ultra Beach Gold Coast in a campervan

Broadwater Parklands is about 80 km south of Brisbane. From the Northgate depot used by Britz and Mighty it is roughly 81 km and just over an hour via the M1 Pacific Motorway, and from the Brisbane CBD about 74 km and an hour, outside peak traffic. Jucy's Brisbane depot is at Eagle Farm, also near the airport. Check each brand's pickup hours when you book.

Leave the van and take the G:link

Ultra's public transport guide for the 2026 edition lists three ways in:

  • G:link light rail: ride to Broadwater Parklands or Southport South station, then use the Ada Bell Way crossing to reach the festival entry.
  • Bus: ride to Australia Fair, then walk over the Ada Bell Way crossing.
  • Ferry: ride to Southport Pier, turn left and walk through Broadwater Parklands to the entry.

The G:link runs from Helensvale through Southport and Surfers Paradise to Burleigh Heads, so you can stay at any park near the line and ride in. Translink fares are a 50 cent flat rate across all its services, and you can pay with a go card or a contactless debit or credit card. If you stay at Broadwater Tourist Park, simply walk. We found no official event parking for campervans, so do not plan to drive to the gates.

Festival entry rules

  • Everyone must be 18 or over and carry valid photo ID.
  • There are no pass-outs, so you cannot pop back to your van during the day.
  • Small bags, clutches and bum bags are allowed, but large backpacks are not.
  • The site is cashless with no ATMs.

Start from our Gold Coast campervan hire page and read the official Know Before U Go page once the 2027 version is published.

An 8 day Ultra Beach Gold Coast campervan trip with the hinterland and Byron Bay

This plan matches our search dates, collecting on Friday 9 April 2027 and returning on Friday 16 April 2027, and assumes Ultra falls on Sunday 11 April. Shift it once the official date is announced.

Day 1 (Friday): Brisbane to Southport

Collect your campervan in Brisbane, stock up and drive about an hour south on the M1. Check in at Broadwater Tourist Park, where site check-in starts at 11am.

Day 2 (Saturday): Gold Coast beaches by tram

Leave the van parked and ride the G:link south to Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach or Burleigh Heads. Walk the route from the park to the festival entry so you know it on the day.

Day 3 (Sunday): Ultra Beach Gold Coast

Walk next door to Broadwater Parklands with photo ID, a small bag and a card, as the site is cashless. There are no pass-outs, so eat and charge your phone before you go in.

Day 4 (Monday): Tamborine Mountain

Check out by 10am and drive about 39 km, around 45 minutes, up to Tamborine Mountain. Its Witches Falls section, declared in 1908, is Queensland's oldest national park. Spend the night at a licensed park, such as Tallebudgera Creek or Burleigh Beach tourist parks back on the coast.

Day 5 (Tuesday): Springbrook National Park

Spend the day in Springbrook, part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, with lookouts, waterfalls and Natural Bridge, where glow-worms appear after dark, then return to your coastal park for the night. The park's only camping area, The Settlement, lists tent and camper trailer camping but no caravans, so check with Queensland Parks before planning to sleep there in a campervan.

Day 6 (Wednesday): South to Byron Bay

Drive south to Byron Bay, about 100 km from Southport and less from Tallebudgera. Reflections Byron Bay at 1 Lighthouse Road has powered sites, a dump point and a beachfront walk of about 10 minutes into town. Byron Shire bans camping in streets, parks and reserves, with $110 on-the-spot fines.

Day 7 (Thursday): Byron Bay

Walk up to Cape Byron Lighthouse, swim at the main beaches and enjoy the cafes in town before a second night at the holiday park.

Day 8 (Friday): Return to Brisbane

Empty the toilet cassette at the park dump point, refuel and drive about 175 km, around 2 hours 15 minutes, back to your Brisbane depot before its last return time.

Tips for Ultra Beach Gold Coast in a campervan

  • Book the holiday park before the van: Broadwater Tourist Park sits next door to the festival and April overlaps Queensland school holidays, so sites near Southport go first.
  • Never sleep in the van on the street: the City of Gold Coast bans sleeping overnight in a vehicle on council roads, car parks and parks, signs or not, and its officers patrol and fine.
  • Ride, do not drive, to the gates: Ultra recommends the G:link, bus or ferry, and Translink fares are a 50 cent flat rate.
  • Pack for no pass-outs: bring photo ID, a small bag or bum bag and a bank card, because large backpacks are refused and the site has no ATMs.
  • Watch for the 2027 announcement: Ultra announced the 2025 edition in September 2024 and the 2026 edition by January 2026, so check the official site and lock in your hire dates once the date is confirmed.
