About Star RV
Star RV is a premium, motorhome-only rental brand in Australia and New Zealand. JUCY Group bought it from Apollo Tourism & Leisure in December 2022, and JUCY Group renamed itself Travvia in 2024, so Star RV and JUCY are now sister brands with no link to Apollo or thl. Star RV shares all nine of its branches with JUCY: six in Australia and three near New Zealand's airports.
Every Star RV is an automatic diesel motorhome in the Polaris range: the Polaris 2 van for couples, the Polaris 4 and the 6-berth Polaris 6. All have a shower, toilet and kitchen, and Star RV lists every New Zealand vehicle as certified self-contained. Every hire includes unlimited kilometres, linen and a kitchen kit.
Is Star RV a good choice?
Star RV suits couples and families who want a motorhome with a full bathroom and are happy to pay more than for a campervan. Its Google branch ratings average 4.1 out of 5 across about 1,080 reviews, lower than maui or Cruisin, with reviews split between praise for roomy motorhomes and complaints about vehicle faults at handover. Compare maui or Cruisin if ratings matter most to you.

Star RV motorhome hire in Australia
Star RV's Australian fleet has three Polaris models. The Polaris 2 is a Fiat Ducato van for couples with a bathroom and living-area air-con, the Polaris 6 is a 7.9 m motorhome with three doubles and six belted seats, and the Polaris 4 uses the Polaris 6 body with four usable seatbelts and no child seat anchor points. The Polaris 4 isn't in our live search yet.
One-way hires are allowed between branches, subject to approval, with the fee shown in your quote. Tasmania is allowed by ferry, but there is no Hobart branch and on-road support there is limited.

Star RV motorhome hire in New Zealand
In New Zealand Star RV rents the Polaris 2 Fiat Ducato van, the Polaris 4, a 7.4 m Mercedes Sprinter with two doubles, and the 6-berth Polaris 6. Star RV lists every New Zealand vehicle as certified self-contained, and the Polaris 4 and 6 have cab-only air-con and an awning.
One-way hires between Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown are allowed, with the fee shown in your quote, and crossing Cook Strait needs an inter-island ferry. Every vehicle is diesel, so road user charges of 8 cents per km apply.

Frequently asked questions
Who owns Star RV?

Is Star RV the same as JUCY?
Star RV and JUCY share an owner, all nine branches and the New Zealand airport shuttles, but they rent different vehicles. Star RV rents only Polaris motorhomes with a bathroom to drivers aged 21 to 74, while JUCY rents mostly smaller campervans to drivers from 18.
Where are Star RV's branches?

How much is the Star RV excess?

What is the difference between the Polaris 4 and Polaris 6?

Are Star RV motorhomes self-contained in New Zealand?

You need to be at least 21 and under 75. A full licence or an Australian green P2 is accepted, while learner and P1 licences are not.
Does Star RV include unlimited kilometres?

Does Star RV pick up from the airport?
In New Zealand, yes: a free on-demand shuttle, shared with JUCY, runs at Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown, so call once you have your bags. In Australia there is no shuttle, so take a taxi or rideshare.
Does Star RV have a branch in Hobart, Darwin or the Gold Coast?
No, Star RV closed Hobart in May 2025, the Gold Coast in October 2025 and Darwin in November 2025. You can still take a Star RV to Tasmania on the ferry, but on-road support there is limited.
