About Cruise Canada

Cruise Canada is the Canadian arm of Cruise America, the US RV rental company founded in 1972 and owned by its employees since 2014. It was set up as a wholly owned subsidiary in 1987, and today it shares Cruise America's website, reservations line, motorhomes and rental rules. The main differences are that prices are in Canadian dollars, distance is charged per kilometre rather than per mile, and only the largest model has a generator.

Cruise Canada rents from four company depots open all year in Calgary, Vancouver (Delta), Toronto (Bolton) and Montreal (Saint-Eustache), plus a seasonal dealer site at a KOA campground near Halifax, and a Whitehorse site in the Yukon is due to open in May 2027. The fleet is four Ford-based Class C motorhomes, from the 2-berth Ultra Compact to the 30 ft Large for up to 7. All are automatic and petrol, each has a toilet and shower, and every one is pet friendly.

Is Cruise Canada a good choice?

Cruise Canada suits Australian, British and New Zealand travellers who want a straightforward motorhome for the Rockies, the east coast or a round trip into the USA, with a dog on board if needed and no surcharge for drivers under 25. Its five open depots average 4.2 out of 5 across about 1,500 Google reviews, led by Toronto (Bolton) at 4.4. Kilometres cost C$0.39 each on top of the nightly rate, and you can't finish a Canadian rental in the USA, as one-ways between the two countries are not allowed.

Cruise Canada doesn't have a separate listing in our search, but its motorhomes appear under Cruise America. Search below from Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal or Halifax and you'll see live Cruise Canada prices side by side with the other brands we compare.

Cruise Canada RV rental in Canada

Cruise Canada rents four Class C motorhomes on Ford petrol chassis, all automatic and two-wheel drive: the Ultra Compact (19.6 ft, 5.94 m, sleeps 2), the Compact (20.5 ft, 6.55 m, sleeps 4), the Standard (25 ft, 7.6 m, sleeps 5) and the Large (30 ft, 9.1 m, sleeps 7). Each has a kitchen, toilet and shower, but only the Large has a generator, so the smaller models need a powered campsite for the air-con, microwave and power points. The Ultra Compact is rented only at the four city depots, and Halifax offers just the Standard and Large. There is no travel trailer in Canada.

Kilometres cost C$0.39 each, with an estimate of 160 km a night, or 400 km on one-ways, charged up front and settled on return. One-ways between Canadian depots need approval in advance, and one-ways into the USA are not allowed. Round trips into the USA are fine, and in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Newfoundland and Alaska you must stay on public numbered roads.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cruise Canada the same company as Cruise America?

Yes. Cruise Canada has been Cruise America's wholly owned Canadian subsidiary since 1987, and it uses the same website, reservations line, motorhomes and rental rules. Only the currency, the per-kilometre charging and the generator fit differ, with a generator on the Large only in Canada.

Where are Cruise Canada's locations?

Calgary (north-east Calgary), Vancouver (Delta), Toronto (Bolton) and Montreal (Saint-Eustache) open all year, and Halifax (the Halifax West KOA in Upper Sackville) opens from mid-April to mid-November. A Whitehorse location is due to open in May 2027. None is at an airport.

Is Cruise Canada open in winter?

The four city depots stay open all year, with shorter hours from 11 October to 2 May. The RVs are winterised from about mid-October to late March, so the taps, shower and toilet may not work in the cold months. Halifax closes from mid-November to mid-April.

How much do kilometres cost with Cruise Canada?

C$0.39 per km. An estimate of 160 km a night, or 400 km a night on one-ways, is charged up front and adjusted when you return. The Half Price Mileage Deal (code FRDM) halves the rate on round trips departing by 31 October 2027.

Do Cruise Canada motorhomes have a generator?

Only the 30 ft Large, at C$3.50 an hour. The Standard, Compact and Ultra Compact need a powered campsite to run the air conditioner, microwave and power points.

Can I do a one-way rental with Cruise Canada?

Yes, between Canadian depots, such as Vancouver to Calgary or Toronto to Montreal, if you book ahead and it is approved. The drop fee depends on the route, and the down payment becomes non-refundable once the one-way is confirmed. You can't finish a Canadian rental in the USA.

Can I drive a Cruise Canada RV into the USA or Alaska?

Yes, on round trips that return to Canada. In Alaska, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Newfoundland you must stay on public numbered roads, with no gravel, logging or back roads. Mexico is not allowed.

Can I bring my dog in a Cruise Canada RV?

Yes, every motorhome is pet friendly and no pet fee is published. Clean up after your pet, as a cleaning fee applies if the RV comes back dirty.

What do I need to rent from Cruise Canada?

Every driver must be 21 or older with a valid physical licence, as digital and temporary licences are refused, and overseas visitors also show a passport. You need a Visa, Mastercard or Amex credit card, because debit, Interac and Discover cards are not accepted in Canada.

Does Cruise Canada have an airport shuttle?

No, you make your own way to the depot. Delta is roughly 20 to 25 km by road from Vancouver airport and Bolton about 20 km north of Toronto Pearson. Pick-ups run from 1pm to 4pm and returns from 9am to 11am, with C$25 an hour charged after that.

Which Cruise Canada RV is best for a couple?

The Ultra Compact, which sleeps 2 and is only 7 ft wide, is the easiest to drive and park, but it has no generator. The 21 ft Compact adds room for up to 4.

Can I book Cruise Canada through Campervan Rental Guide?

Yes. Cruise Canada's motorhomes are listed under Cruise America in our search, so a search from a Canadian city shows its live prices alongside other brands.
