I Highly recommend Scott if you’re looking to book & plan your travels in a campervan/motorhome. Nothing was an issue & Scott is very professional & has lots of experience & very helpful on many tips you don’t get dealing directly with online hiring companies. He takes all the worry out of the process & we even got a better deal going through Scott so it’s a win win- wouldn’t go anywhere else when we travel again. Thanks again Scott

Looked at several options of renting a motorhome from Perth for 18 days. After narrowing them down we started calling. First choice was Campervan Rental Guide and we dealt with Scott. Scott was able to guide us through the most suitable options in Motorhome and even suggested a few ideas to our itinerary. We found him engaging, knowledgeable and helpful. We got off the phone and decided to book with him straight away which was also a seamless process.

Scott was helpful and friendly, and this is the easiest platform to compare and book campervans in Aus. I had taken a few days of juggling different websites etc for a couple of trips coming up, got all sorts of confused until finding Campervanrentalguide, and calling through a question got me onto Scott at 7am (!) and within a couple of hours I had two trips booked with what I wanted at the price I was happy for, Thankyou

As a first time renter , I couldn’t have asked for a better experience than what Scott provided to me. From the very beginning, he has been polite, helpful and completely honest. He consistently followed up with phone calls always making sure I had all information I needed and answering any questions- without ever being pushy or overly sales focused. Scott’s approach was all about making sure I was informed and comfortable before making any decisions. That level of care and transparency was exactly what I was hoping for. His consistent communication helped me build full trust in him. He is genuinely trustworthy and I felt completely at ease when I decided to book with him. The booking process was as easy as sending a letter in the mail. I highly recommend Scott to anyone considering a Campervan rental for his professionalism, honesty, reliability and genuine willingness to help out his clients with any questions at any time. He made the whole process smooth and hassle free - a great experience overall👍 Jordan Wong

Booking through Campervan Rental Guide was honestly a breeze. I was a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out the best camper for our trip, but their site made it really simple to compare options. Ended up with a great van. What I liked most was how easy they were to deal with — quick replies, friendly, and it felt like they actually wanted to help, not just make a sale. Everything went smoothly from start to finish Thanks Tube

Scott was able to assist us in our planning for Southwestern USA RV Trip in 2026. There is just too much conflicting information on the web & Scott was kind enough to impart his experience and knowledge to arrange the best RV for our 6 week journey. My partner and I now feel at ease that we have chosen the right organisation (and person) to deal with.

Burning Man is a week-long experiment in art, community, and radical self-reliance, built from scratch each year in Nevada's Black Rock Desert. With over 70,000 participants converging on the playa, securing a reliable, playa-approved RV or motorhome rental is the most practical way to ensure you have shade, shelter from dust storms, and a private reset space.
Many standard rental companies prohibit Burning Man travel, but our platform connects you strictly with trusted commercial fleets that officially allow their vehicles on the playa. We highlight transparent pricing, including any mandatory post-event cleaning fees, so there are no surprises when you arrive.
Burning Man RV Guide Contents:
Burning Man 2026 Event Overview
The Essentials
Black Rock City is a temporary metropolis. It is not a festival with stages and corporate sponsors; it is a participatory city guided by 10 Principles, including radical self-reliance and Leave No Trace. There are no hookups, no on-site shops, and no dump stations.
Black Rock City Location
The city is built on a dry lake bed (the "playa") in northwestern Nevada. Access is via Highway 447 to Gerlach, then Highway 34 to Gate Road. A strict dirt road with a 10 mph speed limit leads to the entrance where all vehicles are searched.
The nearest major city is Reno, roughly 2.5 hours south. Fill up on fuel and final supplies in Reno, Fernley, or the last stops along Highway 447 before arriving at the gate.
Why Rent an RV for Burning Man?
The playa environment is remote and extreme. Temperatures can reach 100°F (38°C) during the day and drop to near freezing at night. Whiteout dust storms can last for hours. An RV makes radical self-reliance far more manageable.
The Benefits of an RV
- Real bed and controlled sleep environment (far better than a collapsed tent at 4am in a dust storm).
- Air conditioning and heating to combat severe desert temperature swings.
- Secure, sealed storage for food, water, electronics, and expensive gear.
- Onboard kitchen and bathroom facilities for self-contained hygiene.
- Power capabilities for lights, fans, and charging devices.
Camping & Vehicle Rules
- Placed Theme Camps: Register in advance for a designated block. Best for first-timers who want community support and shared resources.
- Open Camping: First-come, first-served on the outer rings. Offers independence but requires meticulous planning.
- Vehicle Lockdown: Once parked at your camp, your RV stays parked. Driving inside the city is banned (except for registered mutant vehicles).
- No Hookups: You must manage your own fresh water, gray water, and black water. On-playa pump-out services can be flagged down for a fee.
Top Gateway Cities for RV Pickup
Most participants secure their campervan rental from these primary hubs before making the drive into the Nevada desert.
Suggested RV Trip Schedule (12-14 Days)
The Playa Preparation & Decompression Timeline
A 12 to 14-day rental gives you the necessary buffer for the drive, provisioning, the event itself, and a relaxed, safe return.
- Thu Aug 27 (Pickup & Shakedown): Pick up your RV from the rental depot. Do a full systems check (AC, generator, water, window seals). Stock up on heavy items like water and non-perishables at a Walmart or Costco near the depot.
- Fri Aug 28 (The Approach): Drive toward Reno (if starting from SF, LA, or Vegas). Complete your final provisioning in Reno—fresh food, fuel, ice, and extra water. Camp overnight near Reno or Fernley.
- Sat Aug 29 (The Final Leg): Drive north on Highway 447 through Gerlach to Gate Road. Fill your fuel tank completely at the last stops in Wadsworth, Empire, or Gerlach. Arrive early to beat the massive Sunday gate-open rush.
- Sun Aug 30 – Mon Sep 7 (The Burn): Nine days in Black Rock City. The Man burns on Saturday, Sep 5. The Temple burns Sunday, Sep 6. Monday is Exodus—plan for a slow, dusty, hours-long wait to reach the paved highway.
- Tue Sep 8 – Sep 9 (Decompression & Return): Return drive to your rental depot. Stop in Reno or Lake Tahoe for an initial RV dust-out and personal shower. Return the RV to the depot (ensure you understand your supplier's cleaning fee policies).
What to Expect at Burning Man 2026
Everything is participant-created. There are no headliners, no VIP areas, and nothing is for sale except ice and coffee at Center Camp.
🔥 The Icons of the Playa
- The Man: A large wooden effigy at the center of the city, burned on the second-to-last night. The defining, high-energy ceremony of the event.
- The Temple: A contemplative structure burned on the final night in total silence. A deeply emotional and universally respected space.
- Art Installations & Mutant Vehicles: Hundreds of large-scale artworks across the deep playa, explored alongside registered art cars carrying passengers day and night.
Surviving the Dust: RV Care Tips
💨 Tape and Seal
Alkali dust gets everywhere. Use painter's tape to seal roof vents, skylights, and window edges that you don't plan to open. Cover the RV upholstery with cheap sheets or rugs.
🔋 Power Management
Run the generator only when necessary to cool the RV or charge the house battery. Be mindful of generator exhaust around neighboring tents, and obey quiet hours in certain camping zones.
💧 Water Conservation
Use "navy showers" (turn water off while lathering) or rely on wet wipes. A full fresh water tank must last your entire group for the week for drinking, cooking, and washing.
⚠️ The Awning Rule
Never leave your RV awning extended while you are away from camp or sleeping. Sudden, violent wind gusts are common and will destroy the awning—which is rarely covered by insurance.
Burning Man RV Rental FAQs
Most standard rental agreements strictly prohibit it due to the harsh alkaline dust. However, Campervan Rental Guide partners with specific commercial fleets (like Cruise America and El Monte) that officially allow Burners. We clearly display which vehicles are approved during your search.
Yes. Almost all approved providers mandate a Burning Man surcharge or deep-cleaning fee. This covers the extensive detailing required to remove the fine playa dust from the vehicle's interior, engine, and filtration systems. This fee is always stated upfront before you book.
There are no dump stations in Black Rock City. You must conserve your tank space. Official sanitation trucks (United Site Services) roam the city and can be flagged down to pump out your gray and black tanks for a cash fee.
No. If a whiteout dust storm hits, immediately turn off the roof A/C and ensure all windows and vents are tightly closed. Running the A/C during a storm will suck the highly corrosive alkaline dust directly into the unit and the RV interior.
Immediately. Playa-approved RVs from gateway cities like Reno, SF, and Vegas typically sell out 6 to 10 months in advance. We highly recommend booking your RV at the same time, or even before, you secure your event tickets in the Main Sale.
