About CanaDream
CanaDream has rented RVs in Canada since 1994, when its founders bought the Canada Campers business, and it now runs seven stations from Vancouver and Whitehorse to Halifax. Apollo Tourism & Leisure took it private in 2017, and it has been fully owned by Tourism Holdings (thl) since thl merged with Apollo in 2022. That makes it a sister brand of maui, Britz and Mighty, and of El Monte RV and Road Bear RV in the USA. It is often searched as Canada Dream, but the brand is written as one word.
The fleet is mostly Ford-based Class C motorhomes, the North American style with beds over the driver's cab, from the 24 ft Compact Motorhome to the 30 to 33 ft Maxi Plus for up to 7. There is also a two-berth Ford Transit van, the compact Super Van Camper and the Maxi Travel Camper, a Ford F-350 4x4 diesel pickup carrying a slide-in camper. Every model has a toilet and shower, and kilometres are charged on top of the nightly rate unless you buy a package.
Is CanaDream a good choice?
CanaDream suits travellers who want the widest choice of Canadian pick-up points, a 4x4 for the north, or a winter trip in a motorhome built for the cold. Its Google station ratings average 4.4 out of 5 across more than 2,200 reviews, with Halifax and Edmonton the highest at 4.7. Expect to pay for kilometres, kits and extra drivers on top of the nightly rate, and allow for the C$5,000 security deposit unless you buy liability reduction.

CanaDream RV rentals in Canada
CanaDream rents eight models: the Maxi Travel Camper, a Ford F-350 4x4 diesel truck camper for 3; the 2-berth Deluxe Van Camper; the 4-berth Super Van Camper; and five Class C motorhomes, from the 24 ft Compact to the 7-berth Maxi Plus. Saver 2, Saver 4 and Saver 6 bookings take up to 20% off if CanaDream picks the vehicle on the day. Generator use is free for pick-ups from 1 October to 30 April and C$3.50 an hour from May to September, and the truck camper has no generator.
Kilometres come in 500 km (C$200) or 800 km (C$310) packages, or unlimited for C$1,680 on rentals of up to 21 nights. One-ways need approval and cost C$1,100, or C$1,550 from Calgary to Vancouver. Travel into the USA is allowed with authorisation and a C$100 fee, while far-northern routes need the Northern Surcharge booked in advance.

Standard pick-ups run from 1pm to 4pm and drop-offs between 8am and 10am, with paid early and late slots offered at online check-in. Whitehorse opens only from early May to late September and rents just the truck camper and Compact Motorhome. Most RVs are winterised from about mid October to the end of April, so the water system is drained, but the Winter Ready Maxi Motorhome keeps its water working. There are no airport or hotel shuttles, so budget for a taxi.

Frequently asked questions
Who owns CanaDream?
Tourism Holdings (thl), the New Zealand-listed group behind maui, Britz, Apollo, Mighty, El Monte RV and Road Bear RV. Apollo Tourism & Leisure bought 100% of CanaDream in July 2017, and thl took full ownership when it merged with Apollo in November 2022.
Where are CanaDream's depots?
CanaDream has seven stations: Vancouver (in Delta), Calgary (in Balzac), Edmonton (in Leduc), Whitehorse, Toronto (in Brampton), Montreal (in Mirabel) and Halifax (in Elmsdale). All open year round except Whitehorse, which runs from early May to late September.
How much does CanaDream charge per kilometre?
Kilometres are not included in the nightly rate. For 2026 you can prepay 500 km for C$200 or 800 km for C$310, pay C$0.47 for each km over your allowance, or buy unlimited km for C$1,680 for up to 21 nights plus C$50 a night after that. Unused prepaid km are not refunded.
How much is a CanaDream one-way rental?
C$1,100 for most routes, or C$1,550 from Calgary to Vancouver, on top of the rental. One-ways need prior approval, and returning to a station you did not book costs at least the one-way fee. In autumn, Canada to US relocations run from C$1 a night for the first 7 nights.
What is a Saver 2, Saver 4 or Saver 6 booking?
A cheaper booking, up to 20% off the nightly rate, where CanaDream picks the vehicle from a group on the day. Saver 2 gets a truck camper or one of the vans, Saver 4 a Compact, Midi or Maxi Motorhome, and Saver 6 a Midi, Large, Maxi or Maxi Plus Motorhome.
Can I rent a CanaDream RV in winter?
Yes, at every station except Whitehorse, which closes from October to April. Standard RVs are winterised from about mid October to April, so the toilet, shower and sinks can't be used, but the Winter Ready Maxi Motorhome has heated tanks, a generator and extra batteries and keeps its water working down to about minus 30°C.
Can I take a CanaDream RV to the USA or Alaska?
Yes, with prior authorisation and a C$100 US driving fee that also covers Alaska. Reaching Alaska from southern Canada also needs the Northern Surcharge unless you start in Whitehorse, and some Alaskan roads, including the Denali Highway, the Dalton north of Livengood and McCarthy Road, are banned. Mexico is off limits, and winter rates exclude US travel.
What is the CanaDream Northern Surcharge?
A compulsory fee for driving in Canada's far north when you pick up outside Whitehorse, covering Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Newfoundland and Labrador and the northern parts of several provinces. It must be booked with your reservation and is included for Whitehorse pick-ups, and driving there without it brings a C$1,500 penalty and voids your cover. The Dempster Highway is allowed only from 16 May to 14 September.
What is included in the CanaDream price?
The nightly rate includes C$5 million liability cover, collision cover with a C$5,000 deductible, the first propane fill, fresh water, toilet chemicals and cleaning supplies. Kilometres, the kitchen kit (C$120), linen kits (C$85 per person), extra drivers (C$5 a night) and liability reduction cost extra, and sales tax is added.
How big is the CanaDream security deposit?
C$5,000 on standard liability for travel from 30 March 2026 to 28 March 2027, charged to a Visa, Mastercard or Amex at pick-up and refunded after an undamaged return. Liability Reduction at C$30 a night lowers it to C$1,000, and LRZ at C$45 a night lowers it to zero.
Does CanaDream have an airport shuttle?
No. Every station is off-airport and you arrange your own taxi; typical fares are about C$40 from Calgary airport, C$55 between Vancouver airport and the Delta station, and C$110 between Montreal airport and Mirabel.
Can I bring my dog in a CanaDream RV?
Yes. Up to two dogs or cats can travel for a flat C$375 pet fee, with extra cleaning charged if needed, and service animals travel free with prior permission. Pet damage is never covered by liability reduction.
