About Camperland

Camperland is a small New Zealand campervan rental company with two depots in the South Island, in Christchurch and Queenstown. It trades through CLZS Trading Limited, registered in Christchurch in 2023, and is not part of thl or any other rental group. It is also not Brisbane Camperland, a Jayco caravan and motorhome dealer in Queensland with no link to this business.

Camperland rents one model, the Trio: an automatic, high-roof Toyota Hiace that seats and sleeps three, with a double bed, an upper single bunk, a sink, fridge, microwave, portable gas cooker, solar panel and portable toilet. Camperland lists the Trio as certified self-contained, and every hire includes unlimited kilometres and 24/7 roadside assistance.

Is Camperland a good choice?

Camperland suits couples, small groups and young drivers touring the South Island: drivers aged 18 to 80 pay no young driver fee, and the airport transfer to either depot is free. Its two Google listings average 4.7 out of 5, but from only 29 reviews, which mostly praise easy communication and a well-equipped van. The trade-offs are a compact van with no inside shower, a 5-day minimum on most hires and no North Island depot, so compare Spaceships or JUCY if you need more room or an Auckland pick-up.

Camperland's only model is the Trio, an automatic petrol Toyota Hiace with a high roof, three seatbelts and two beds: a rear double and an upper single bunk. It has 40 L fresh and grey water tanks, a fridge, microwave, portable gas cooker, solar panel and dual batteries, plus a reversing camera and air-con in the cab. There is no inside shower and no baby seat, though a booster seat for children aged 4 to 7 can be added.

An Essentials Kit with bedding, towels and cookware costs NZ$45 per hire for up to three people. One-way hires run between Christchurch and Queenstown in either direction, and longer hires earn discounts from 2.5% at 7 days to 15% at 56 days.
